Subject: Anyone doing a duathlon this summer?
I was planning on doing my second tri this summer, but I've been having problems with my right shoulder. I actually hurt it during my first swim after having baby #6 in Dec! grrr! Since swimming might be out of the question this summer, I've decided to do a couple duathlons.

My first is this weekend. Its just a short course (1mile run/8 mile bike/1 mile run). I'd also like to do a long course one in Sept (5K/11mile bike/5K). I'd still like to do a Tri this summer. If my shoulder holds up there is a a very short course Tri in Aug I'm hoping for.

Anyone else doing a duathlon this summer? Any veterans want to give me some advice?

Our family mainly sticks with the tris but we have a couple dus this year. We did a 5K-30K-5K last weekend and next weekend we have a shorter 5K-13Mile-1Mile local race. That second one sounds like a strange distance but it actually turns out pretty fun. Because its usually that first mile that is the hardest off the bike it is a pretty challenging finish.

My biggest advice is to make sure you get in a good warm-up because starting off with the run is harder in my opinion. Also, wouldn't hurt to practice some run-bike transitions before you head out.

I prefer Du's, and this year I've registered for only Du's, so the wetsuit might be posted in the classified forum soon

I found reverse bricks - run/bike and doing some run/bike/runs to be beneficial - run easy, bike a short, hard effort 10k then get out and run an easy 5.

I just finished my first tri and am looking at entering a duathon on 6/2. Consists of
2 run/20 bike/2.5 run.
