Sweet, we'll be there together. Maybe I should make some oat cookies or something. I suppose that'd be cheating to hand out special oat cookies to the donks, eh?

I'm going to have 2 little kids with me for the volunteer meeting. I'll be lucky if I can keep them occupied long enough to get my shirt and find out any key info. Otherwise, I'd be up for it. I'll probably cruise the farmer's market afterwards, though.

If I can get my butt up there early enough, I would be interested in breakfast.

I got the impression that the aid station volunteers don't even need to go. So, I'm not planning on going anymore. Otherwise, I'd have had the kids with me, too.

I WILL be at Kids in the Rotunda to watch the Figureheads at 9:30. Depending on how old your kids are, come on down and join me.

I noticed some persons had their kids with them when I attended the meetings the last couple of years I volunteered.  All the kids that I saw had great behaviors and weren't running around and/or screaming.  However, I don't remember any of the kids being younger than 4 or so, I was focusing on the meeting.

If the kids can sit around for an hour or so, then why not?  They may get antsy waiting in line for you to get your respective T-shirt.

THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING!!

The Volunteer Tent was on Wilson St., immediately outside the Terrace.  At least for the Run Course Marshals, the captain last year provided a packet that contained a map with directions, T-shirt, and a wristband.  There could be a change of how it's provided and what is provided.

I got an email from the head volunteer coordinator with an FAQ that said that if you are volunteering at an aid station for the bike or run, and your captain hasn't contacted you, that you're just supposed to show up at the aid station a little before your scheduled time. *shrug* I figure if I show up there and I have to get sent back to the Terrace, it's no big deal.

what are the "figureheads" ?

Totally not tri-related. But, kids related. They're a local kid-oriented hip hop band.

Really great messages and way fun songs. And, hey, you've got kids to entertain while you're here, right?

I am not going to be able to get to Madison until about 10:00. Am I still going to be able to get into the Alliant Center Parking lot? Or is it usually full by then.

The alliant center parking lot is HUGE. I'm not sure it ever fills up for anything. You might be half a mile from where the buses load, but I doubt it'll be full. (That being said, I've never tried to park there for Ironman.)

Here's a little hint - there's also lots of street parking off of Williamson Street. I'm not sure how many people park over there, if any. There are 2 buses that run down Jenifer Street on weekends - the 4 and the 3. You can park on any side street (or on Jenifer) all the way out to Baldwin and catch a bus on most corners on Jenifer.

Here's Madison's bus information, if you want to try to navigate the city buses (as in not the shuttle buses): http://www.cityofmadison.com/metro/
