How much recovery time?  (in days please not hours...)

I had to go to a workshop sunday, the day after my race.  Lots of stretching, strength an balance, isometric type stuff (it was a PiYo..combo Pilates/Yoga workshop).  Even with those exercises my HR was high, no HRM but I could feel it.  I was sweating a lot for the exertion level too.

Weights - light light light and only 2 exercise each for shoulders/chest/back - felt fine.

Had to teach spin tonight..again no HRM but my HR was high for what I was doing, I could feel it.  It took longer than normal to come down too.

I was going to run and Yoga tomorrow...think I should?

I think the rule is one day for every hour you race...but I don't know for sure. Anyone else?

Wow, that's a lot of work so soon after what you did!!  I took a day off and worked out lightly today just to loosen up, and will do a light run tomorrow, but that is probably pushing it a bit. Tonight, like you, I was sweating my ass off at the gym and my breating was shallow....  I have to hand it to you though, no way I could have done a spin class today after the sunday race...

The rule of thumb I have heard is to copy your taper in reverse order...

oh yeah, I forgot about the reverse taper thing!  One day for every hour...hmmmm 6 days...I would die or somthing.

I actually missed a day, race was Saturday, Sun was Piyo, Mon was off, light weights were this mornign.  Spin sucked, but not as much as I thought it would.  I took it really easy tho.

Actually the running "experts" recommend one day rest for every mile you race, that is 26 days rest after a marathon. By "rest," they don't mean strap yourself to the couch, they mean avoid racing and intense workouts (speed work, severe hill training) during that period.

After finishing my 1/2 I was out training again in a two days.

After I did my first marathon, I was running again in a few days...after finishing my second marathon, I needed MUCH more time to recover - like 2 weeks - before I felt I could "train" again.

So, it all depends on how your OWN body feels...everyones different, and every situation is different, also.
