Thought it would nice to have a thread for those that we are honoring on this memorial day. Many of us either personally know or know of someone who has died serving their country.

Matt, Adam, Pat, Brian, Mike, Kimberly, John, Will, Tim....and many others.

Brothers and sisters in arms...you will not be forgotten.

Michael

Sending out a prayer for all my dad's buddies who died fighting with him in Veitnam.  I hold all of them, as well as all the others who have given the ultimate sacrifice, and all their families in the highest regard.

A huge prayer for those who fought and lost their lives in service to this country ... and a huge prayer for those who are fighting today ... and a huge prayer for those who fought and came home to live with the memories of those they left behind. Bless you all!!

Thankfully, no one to remember by name.  My Dad is in a Military grave, but from natural causes.  But ... will try to always remember them all.

Thank you to all who have, will and do serve.

With love.  JKO

Unfortunately in my 16+ years of service I know too many to type their names and I would unfortunately forget some.  I just want to say thanks to all out there that are actually honoring what this day really is about and remembering those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for us.

Thank you to all that have given everything so that I (and others) may continue to enjoy the freedom we so often take for granted.

My mother was born in Poland in a little town, few miles from the German border, called Wielun. It was there, where the first bombs of WWII were dropped. At about 5:00am within few hours the entire town was in ruins...She was 10 then.
For the next 5 years, her family and the rest of Polish people had to live under the occupation of Nazis with constant fear of deportation to concentration camps, slave labor in Germany (my aunts were sent there) and simply death on the streets at the whim of the occupiers. Millions shared that fate.
I myself grew up in a city that was completely destroyed and it took years to rebuild it.
We played on those ruins and the images are still imprinted in my mind.
History showed that it was due to the American involvement, that the plan to enslave the world was stopped. Who knows how it would look like if it wasn't for the ones that sacrificed their lifes to fight in WWII...
Every time I go to visit Poland I stop at the military cemetary there.
From the bottom of my heart - I salute you all!

My grandparents ( babci and dzadzi) were also from Poland. They were taken by the Nazis and worked as slave-labor in Germany for over 5 years. Thanks to the American military, they were freed from slavery and after time in a displaced persons refugee camp, they came to America, where my mom would eventually meet my dad. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for the brave American soldiers of WW2.

Thank you, and you'll always be remembered.
