Subject: Swim lingo
I just downloaded one of the beginner training programs and am confused on what the following means: warm up - 200 swim, 200 kick, 200 pull, 200 swim. Main is 1 X 1500. Cool Down 4 x 50. Can anyone explain the warm up to me? Thanks in advance

The number is the number of yard/meters. So 200 swim means swim 200 yards. 200 kick means do 200 yards using a kickboard (no arms, just kicking). 200 pull is 200 yards using a pull-buoy (so no kicking, just arms). Main set is to swim 1500 yds.

The reference to 200 means 200 yards / meters (how ever your pool is measured). 200 swim is to swim 200 meters using a stroke that uses arms and legs (probably freestyle or crawl). 200 kick means to use a kickboard (hold it out in front of you with both hands and only use your legs). 200 pull means to use a pull bouy between your legs (don't kick, use only your arms). 1 x 1500 means to swim 1500 meters (once).

On the kick you can also kick on your back with your arms over your head with your fingers interlaced.  I find that easier than using a kick board, mainly because I can breath.

We would call that warm up an 800 "SKiPS" meaning 200 each of S.wim/K.ick/P.ull/S.wim.

As the others have said. Swim is with both arms and legs, kick is legs only with kickboard, and pull is arms only with pull buoy between legs

On you training log page there is a link called "current plan information," then you can click on the Training Plan Terms. That helped me a lot. Happy swimming!
