Hey everyone! Just wanted to say Hi. My name is Kyle and I'm from San Antonio. I'm starting to train from my first triathlon in sept. It is going to be an olympic distance in Florida at Disney World. YES I am going with TNT. I'm really excited to be doing this and to have found this site.

Oh If anyone has training tips please share. I am still planning my workouts. I am thinking of doing

m - Run
t - Bike
w - Swim
th- Run
f - Bike
s - a combo like run/swim or bike/run
s - off day

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Welcome! Whereabouts in SA. Looking for someone to try some training with. This site also has some great training plans available, and the community is just great. My first is coming up soon as well, going to be a Sprint in New Braunfels.

Hi Kyle,  I have done Disney for the past 2 years.  You'll have fun!  The bike is long this year.  If I could make a recommendation on training.  Use a plan, not just doing certain things on certain days.  There are tons of great plans right here on BT, or you can find plans in any number of books or websites (not being biased, but the BT plans are great).

Welcome, it's always great to have another Texan on board!

I would also recommend using the training logs.  Accountability is always a good thing!

Thanks Dodgersmom! Let me tell you what my fitness history. In high school I was on Varsity Cross Country team averaging 18 min for 3 miles. I am an Army Vet served 5 years. I will be 24 this month. I also am a certified fire fighter, which mean I went to Acadamy (which is very tough) but all of that was a year ago. Since then I hit the gym spuraticly. My question is in yalls opinion where should I start? At a basic level work out routine or something a little more advanced. I am no where near as in shape as I use to be.

Again All help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!

I am a .net developer. I love C#. I've done very little with VB.Net but years ago did some VB6 work.

I would check out the Olympic plans.  I think there are 20 week and 16 week plans.

Ouch!  I moved from Texas to the Cleveland area almost 10 years ago.  Did you have housing sticker shock?  But then I moved to Wisconsin and had the housing sticker shock all over again!  I'll still root for the Cavs this year!

It wasn't as bad as I was expecting. State taxes suck!!! I plan to just rent for now becuase next year I will be moving again to follow love.

I like the Spurs but I too hope to see the Cavs win.

I am the opposite.  I moved from Cleveland to Dallas and couldn' t be happier.  No more shoveling snow or state taxes.   Housing to me does not seem that much different.  Live somewhere nice it will cost you, live somewhere cheap not so nice.  The problem with Dallas is all the places to eat.  I go broke eating out every month.
