Aside from myself and a couple others that I've been PM'ing with, who else has a race this weekend? First timers?

My triathlon season is over, even though Ellen has been badgering me to do Granite Ledges next weekend!  But I've got a 10-K race tomorrow morning.

TractorAl & Tribarbie are doing a sprint tri in Baraboo WI.. Al's 5th tri and my 2nd. Why am I back on here when I should be packing?????? It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to pack 3 kids for a full weekend at their grandparents. All I can say is..... woooohoooo I'm outta here!

I am racing this weekend, except it's not a triathlon, and well, it's not exactly a race. It's our bike club's annual 12 hour ride. We try to ride as many miles as we can in 12 hours. It is on a 7 mile loop, so you can imagine how old it gets after a few hours...I could do that course blindfolded. We have a tent set up with food and drinks, so we can stop to take a break whenever we want. There's even a port-o-potty set up and a massage therapist on hand. I would like to beat my PR of 187.5 miles, but that's going to be pretty tough to beat, especially since the high tomorrow is supposed to be around 94 and part of the course has been resurfaced with that horrible chip seal. We'll see how it goes though, I'm already nervous and it's just a club thing for bragging rights and some type of trophy given out at our Christmas party.

I have a small duathlon in Morrison, Il. It's a 5k run and a 21 mile bike ride. Apparently there is no second run - which is fine by me.

So what you're saying is that by getting your child addicted, you're turning her into an enabler for your addiction? Go break 8 minutes! Just don't break yourself trying.

Subject: RE: first tri relay - sprint - bike 14 miles

i had planned on the whole thing but then my workmate convinced me that i was insane given my lack of swimming ability and lack for training time from business trips...she's right and i know it...to be quite honest the bike is more scarey for me and i'm hoping not to do whatever autumn did to her knee happen to me or a DQ of course.  either would suck.

hopefully thing will go smoothly...it's all of our first tri...and though the runner has done a marathon and the swimmer has been a racer for swimming .. first time in open water .. i keep telling her it will be different but she's sure she can do it no problem...i sure hope she's right I'm sure she can ... i'm more scared for her than about her LOL ... my part is mostly flat so that is good cuz i suck on hills and cornering!  i need to get in more training next season and of course over the winter.

good luck everyone with all the racing.  we expect snow this week so this will definitely be the last for me.
