after T1 I got on my bike and was speeding down sample road and one of the volunteers goes, "Nice helmet, did you know it is on backwards?"

You were not the only one to do that today.  We saw at least one other.

Eric, I do have an action shot of you, but I thought it not in the best taste to post it.  It was taken before I quite realized the extent of what was going on.  You EMS guys really saved the day.

The picture of Rob looking at his watch as Jeff runs by is probably my favorite.  There's also a good picture of Jeff showing the combination of exhaustion and excitement that you get after a race.  Gygy had the two best expressions of the entire day, but they couldn't be captured in a still.

One of the first males out of the water put his helmet on backwards at first ... so it was a trend that started early!

Nice to meet Foots and Sunburnin today! I hope everyone had a good race.

So far this year, we've worked Speed Street with 100,000+ people, 1 sprint, 1 duathlon, New Year's Eve, Thunder Road Marathon/Half-Mary  and this is the first time that we've had anything happen like today.

For anyone who didn't see or hear about it, one of the participants collapsed about 50 yds from the finish line.  Alice was actually a bystander and one of the first people to help out (Way to go Alice!!).  He did go into cardiac arrest but was defibrillated one time and got a pulse back.  The amazing (or sad thing--depending on how you look at our lifestyle ) thing was his first question--"Did I finish the race?"  That just says it all about our insane selves!  He was doing very well last I heard.

I'm really glad that he is doing alright, and that's just so cool that the first thing he wanted to know is if he finished the race........what a crazy sport.

Wow, I am so glad he is ok. It is good to hear, though, that Eric has gone to all of these events and this is the first time something like this has happened.

Great pics Tommy! Thanks for taking those and sharing.
