Subject: Race photo question
So there I go, finishing my first HIM and I'm feeling great!....then....I see my finishing photo and the right 1/3rd of the pic is taken up by some guy gingerly walking through the finishing chute! Does anybody here know if I'd be able to somehow crop this person out of the picture? It's actually kind of funny...if anybody remembers the tv show Son of the Beach, this guy is the spitting image of the main character played by actor Tim Stack, Notch Johnson.

I'm sorry if it's a stupid question, but I'm tech-illiterate.

PS no offense to the Tim Stack look-alike if you are a BT member...but if you're not...enter rant here.

does it have cropping ability on the site before you buy it?

what organization took the pic?, what's the website name?.... e.g., marathonphoto, etc...

can you save the pic to your hard drive, or did they protect that to make sure you'd buy it?

no, they won't crop it, I actually e-mailed them that request.

yes, they protect it so you have to buy it.

Action Sports International asiorders.com yeah, needless to say, despite a friendly request, they were no help.

If you're forking over the money for the pic anyway and silly ASI won't do custom cropping, a decent graphic designer should be able to do a really nice reconstituted crop (whole picture, just takes Tim out) for $15 - $40.  You could take your chances on craigslist or elance.com.  Or you could order the pic, scan it, and do a slice-and-dice yourself (or have a friend do it) and wind up with a very tall, thin photograph with not much of the arch in it.

You look great, by the way!  Sorry about the yellow shirted Tim clone!

I'm not seeing anything either.  Maybe they're in invisible ink.

If you buy it anyways, then you reward their "customer service" or lack thereof.  Personally, I wouldn't waste my $$ to buy a picture I don't want and then pay more $$ to have it cropped into a picture I do want.

How about buying the picture you want as a digital image, which is only fair and lawful since they took the picture, and then asking a tech literate friend to crop it?  Once cropped, send it on to a photo printing place to be printed.  You can do it with Target online and then pick up at the store (or have it mailed).

However Target might NOT print it because it is a copyrighted phone.  You have purchased the image, that does NOT mean you can change the image.

I would THINK the company could edit the image without any problem.  I know they are not making a killing doing these photos, but at 15.00-20.00 a pop, it aint cheap.  And it would take them what... maybe another 60 seconds to load, crop and save the image.  I would call someone else there and tell them you will buy it, once the image is what you want.  I would think it would not take them that long, and for a sale they should do it.
