Subject: Need a Race

Had planned on the Lake Zurich Olympic race on August 5th but was informed that day is the only time when the wife’s (out of state) family can be in town for a baptism, so that day will be Soraya’s baptism.

I’ve been looking, and unless I’m missing it, are there any other good Olympic distance races in the area (Northern IL and Southern WI) in August or September??

If there are any smaller, not nightly advertised races that you know of, please let me know.

There's the Pleasant Prairie tri on August 19th...both sprint and olympic.

Oshkosh tri August 13 OLY (ok not really southern WI) Also I thing Lake geneva tri has a oly. (also super sprint, sprint and HIM) That is in early in September, on the day before IMMOO.

Its not an oly, but my first race and sad I wont make it cuz of MOO training, but Camp Whitcomb Mason tri is a 500yd swim, 22 mile hilly bike and 5k trail run on Aug 12th.

Thank you for the suggestions.  Would like to avoid the Lake Geneva (Frank Dobbs) race.  After one of his races (LG Sprint) two years ago and reading multiple race reports from his events, trying hard to stay away.

I second Oshkosh -- may do a re-do of the sprint but there is an Oly. Also hear Waupaca has a sprint with a 1/2 mile swim, 20 mile bike, 3.1 run.

Check out trifind.com ...maybe there's one in Northern IL or Galena area (neat area... visited with hubster a few years ago and stayed at some resort place. Remember great breakfasts in town and cruising thru Grant's house)

From what I've heard, Frank Dobbs is the bane of Lake Geneva's multi-sport scene...poorly run races abound.

Galena already had their tri...earlier this month I believe.

Devils challenge is a sprint with killer hills in mid September. Devils lake state park is north west of Madison.

I'll put a third comment in for Pleasant Prairie.  Great venue, flat (if you like that kinda thing), nice schwag and probably a nice BT turnout.
