Pre-race routine:

lots of water but tapered it closer to the race got the balance right! and had oatmeal and 2 slices of whte toast with honey 2hrs before the race

quite pleased although my overall time wasn't that good, probably due to the hills but pleased with my speed on the flats was always over 20mph and typically in 21-24 mph

hills!!!!!!!!!!! need to get them sorted so i can keep consisten pace

i think i ran well i had a guy from a shop team infront of me who overtoo me on the bike (and he started way after i did!) but i exited T2 just behind him and kept on his heels all the way until the last 600m then i over took him on the hills and then over took 2 more pepole on the last hill and sprint finished:)
What would you do differently?:

maybr...just maybe could have gone a little faster in the middle

my biking skills especially on hills i need to get cycling shoes and alot of hill practice

really well organised, only late as apparently the first wave of swimmers was MUCH slower than expected

Congratulations! Lucky that they didn't ding you for 'abandoned equipment' by tossing your water bottle. What works for me is to put some water into a couple of gel flasks and put them in my bike jersey pockets. I get dehydrated easily, so I'll probably show up to my first 10k race with a 6 bottle fuel belt
