The Kona World Champs is like three weeks from now, and I want to hear who’s your favorite to win this year is.  My pick is Chris McCormack (AUS), on July this year he won the Quelle Challenge Roth in 7:57:50.37, so, my bet is on him.

I created this small list, so you all can vote and add anyone you like.

From what I read in Triathlete magazine the man impressing the most currently is Simon Lessing of Great Britain. I think if my memory serves me this year he's won Escape from Alcatraz, Florida Half IM and Lake Placid IM. All so ridiculously easily that he's being compared to people like Mark Allen. He's English, I'm English so I'm being patriotic.

I read that article too and he did DOMINATE. I did not think it was possible to dominate something like that but....

I'm gonna vote for macca, I think he is ready for this!

I like lessing, even though he is a brit living and training in boulder, co., and he is tough but I wonder if he is gonna get worn down by all the other victories.

I think this race is Simon's to lose. He has been too dominate this year. (Check out IM USA!). If not Simon, the I have to fall back to Tim DeBoom. He will probably be hungry for the win that his body denied him last year.

I would dearly love to see Peter Reid and Lori Bowden win it this year, but that would be a tall order.

DeBoom is a local-boy, so I'm rooting for him.  Lessing will be a force, to be sure, but you simply can't peak for EVERY race (can you?  Because if we can, I wanna know how!)

Plus, I ended up doing a 5K against him this year - didn't realize it until after the fact, but that guy flat-out hauls @$$ when he runs.  It's one thing to watch a tri on TV, another to watch it up close, but to just hear 'whoosh' when someone passes you...

If you are going to vote for the one with the coolest name then I want to vote for the one who is the cutest. Where can I find pictures of these boys?

Are you trying to be egalitarian or do you just want to vote on who the hottest tri chick is? Pig....

LOL! I'm just kidding!

Does it make me a bad triathlete that I don't care an iota who wins Kona? That I have only a vague idea of who these guys are? That I watched five minutes of that triathlon on OLN last weekend before I fell asleep? Or that when I awoke I switched to football?

I guess I'm in this to challenge myself, maybe even to compete on my level, not to watch. Don't mean that to be as elitist as it might sound. Love the sports, love being out there doing it, but think it sucks as a spectator sport.

Feel the same about Tour de France and marathoning as well.

I'm with ya, Bear. That's why I based my vote on anything but athletic prowess (I love that word!). I didn't know who any of these guys were at all. And tris are pretty dull spectator sports! But they're damn fun to be in!!!

You probably put it better than I did, Kim. Now if y'all want to hold that "Hottest Tri Chick" contest, slap some pictures up here and I'll vote.
