Subject: Another Marine Newbie
Another marine newbie over here in Quantico Va starting to train for my first tri, looking for some good races weeks off any suggestions would be great. already got the bike but as far as other training just reading the articles and trying to learn the basics, any information, tips, would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for your service... I just did a race on Camp Pendleton where your comrades were the volunteers.  It was awesome.

As for training...  stick around, ask questions, and log your workouts so people can see what you are doing.  More importantly, pick a race and sign up.  Nothing like cash on the barrelhead to motivate the training

Welcome to BT and the wild world of tri! HAVE FUN ... it really is good times. Find a training plan (here on BT is a good place to start) so you can train smart. The sites active.com and trifind.com will help you find local races, as will posting here on the Virginia forum (I don't know if they have a D.C. one, as well). Good luck!

Here are some VA triathlons

Find one...perhaps a Sprint tri, signup and then go back to the 'programs' page and find a plan that could work based on your current fitness and work backwards from race-date.
