Subject: Hip Replacement
So I am training for a sprint in October, my first, with a titanium hip (full) done in March. I'm sure I can run/walk my way through the 3.1 miles, swimming is no problem, other than I suck at it, and the biking will not kill me. I am starting week two of the 13 week Sprint program. Haven't needed too much in the way of anti-inflamitories, but I am only able to run/walk 2 miles so far. I hope to be able to r/w 4 after this week, since I will loose time taking the walk breaks. I am swimming .50 miles, and biking 14-18 2 times a week. I am not looking for speed here, just a finish because of my new hardware. Any other THA patients and what kind of luck did you have.

I can't offer any advice but I hope I am motivated to still do a tri if I have a hip replacement. Keep us updated on how it goes.

I'd have preferred not to have the hip replacement, and been mildly motivated. It was when I was training for a tri a year ago that I discovered my hip was so shot. Thanks for the support.
