My name is Brent, I'm 18 years old. I have been thinking about this triathlon thing ever since I seen the Ironman on television last fall. I have always been active, and have always been in good shape. I can easily ride my mountain bike 35-40 miles at a pretty good pace. I can run, but not really fast (at least for any sort of distance). I can swim, but lack form and technique.
If you are a myspace user, my page can be found here

In short, I would just like to say hello to everyone and maybe get some helpful advice.

Thanks for reading!

Welcome, Brent!!! Yeah ... Ironman is really inspirational, isn't it?

Well, if you can bike 30-40 mi on a mountain bike, you're more than prepared for sprint tris, where the bike leg is anywhere from about 10-20 miles. What gets most people is the swim ... if you can get a competitive swimmer friend to help you with your stroke and you practice some open water swimming, you should be good to go.  If you love your first tri, then you can put in the big bucks for a swim coach or slightly smaller bucks for a master's program, etc.

There are some really good (even free!) training plans on this site, which you should avail yourself of.

Good luck!
