October 13th, 2007........that's my next Ironman race and I hope to make you all proud .

Nice.

Only thing I do not like about it is they need more race and less. lets look at everything but the race. Telling us about some of them people that they show while running is cool, but I do not need to see them sitting around being interviewed.

I agree chirunner. As I watched I realized that I did see it last year and had forgotten since I wasn't into this yet. Now having watched it again after having done one I CAN'T WAIT for the next one which is 6 weeks away.

Remeber how small of a minority we are before you get too upset about it.  The fact that NBC can get away with a 2 hour special on triathlon is amazing enough as it is.  But most people simply do not care ... cant get into the sport, dont enjoy watching it on TV etc.  If youre looking for more real race coverage try to check out the 30 to 60 minute shows they do on FSN from time to time.  Those really do cover the race in detail without alot of foo foo story lines.  I enjoyed all of the drama that went along with it, but yes, cut most of that out and it could have easily been a 1 long show.

Since I got into tris my dad decided to watch IM Kona. he still have no clue what you do in the sport since well he complained you do not see it. I proved that I am right KONA has no hills at all since I did not see 1 hill in the coverage. I guess the only way to really see and understand the whole race is to do it yourself.

Your right most people might find it boring but then again look at all the BTers who like to watch the TDF real time everyday. They do not find that boring.

That is what I love about watching CBS coverage of the Chicago marathon. you get to see it all happening minus what you miss during ads. I wish I could get an uncut version where you do see basicly every minute of the race. I do like when they show regular people out there working hard ,and it nice to hear a small background on them but when they do there 5 minute segment I think it just bores me.

Best part was when they were showing the A/G finishing. I though that was the best part expect for the girl doing a cartwheel. She should pushed herself harder. .

I can not get enough of triathlon coverage, however my wife and kids hates watching the coverage. They do not mind going to events and watching though. I guess because they have never trained or competed they just can not understand. I get so motivated watching all the elite and especially the 'regular' people and hearing their stories. I have only done sprints and OLYs and have been putting IMs and even HIMs out a few years, but seeing the coverage makes me want to go ahead and register for at least 1 HIM next season. I wish that Fox and ESPN would do similar coverage of the ITU races.

DVR'd it this weekend. Watched it twice already. Cried both times. (Not very secure in my manhood, being a woman and all, but I thought I was a pretty tough chic. Nope...tears proved that wrong.)

I didn't want to be the first to admit it! But damn it happens everytime I watch one of NBC broadcast of the race. I think there is nothing wrong with getting choked up when they are showing heros like the Hoyts and John Blaze.
