Subject: tri shorts vs. swimsuit
Tonight my swim times were about 30 to 45 seconds slower/500yds than last week. I know sometimes your times will just be faster/slower than others but the only thing I did different was swimming in a regular swimsuit this week vice the tri shorts I swam in the last few weeks. That leads me to the question...are tri shorts really that much faster? I am training for my first sprint and have only swam in the tri shorts a few times. If so, it never occurred to me that I could save that much time by doing something so simple. Thanks for any guidance!

are you talking tri shorts vs. normal swim trunks?  Or Tri shorts vs. speedo or jammers.  If you are comparing to standard baggy trunks or board shorts, then definitely.   I could see 5-10 secs per 100m slowdown easily.

I agree. Once I stopped wearing my parachutes and slipped into something a little more sleek my times went down along with my RPE and fatigue.

Oh yes way faster AND easier! I agree. And you look a lot sexier! Well I do anyway. Just ask my mom, she'll tell you.
