What criteria are you using?  Elite level athletes?  Pros?  Average people?  First-timers?

The pro-men typically finish an Oly well under 1 hour 50 minutes, the women around 2 hours - 2:10 - but this depends on the course, heat, water conditions, etc.

Here, it looks like the goal is to finish a sprint in 1:30, and an Oly in 2:30 (or so)

That's really hard to determine. Each course is different- flat, steep hills, rolling hills, mountains. There are too many varying factors- wind, temperature, humidity, elevation. Of course throw in male or female and then age.

Just because a race is label as a sprint doesn't mean that each part of the course is the same distance. For example, in the two sprint triathlons that I did this summer, I had the exact same time. However, the second tri had a longer swim and the first tri had a longer bike.

Unfortantely, my answer is... it depends.

If you are trying to figure out what your time should be for a particular race then check out last year's results. Find your sex and age group, then see what the average time was.

I wondered the same thing...

I found the times for my event last year and figured out the avg for my age group. That was my goal time for my first tri. I came close...

i would second what joe said. for my sprints, i hoped to finish in 1:30 or so. it depends on who you is racing, and also on the specific course. seems like sprints can really vary in distance. the two races i did were different. the first was swim 1/3 mile, bike 10.3 miles (very flat), run 2.5 miles which i finished in 1:23. the second was swim 1/3 mile, bike 10 miles (w/ a steep climb), run 4 miles, which i finished in 1:34. so, even thought my second race time was longer, it was actually a longer race. if you are looking at a specific race, you might be able to call or email the race officials and get average finishing time, to give you something to go by. i think most people here take their better than average times for each event addded together plus add in some time for transitions.

At the Westchester Triathlon on September 26th here is a breakdown of the average times.  This was an Olympic Distance race.

IndividualsRelays
0:27:44  0:26:26     Swim 1.5K
1:22:00 1:26:42     Bike 40K
0:54:46   0:52:40   Run 10K
2:49:132:48:13      Overall

The winning male's time was 1:55:28, and winning female was 2:03:20.  The last finisher completed it in 4:44:18  Just in case you're curious,  I did it in 2:41:31.  Swim and bike faster then average, run slower then average.  Judging from your picture, you look a lot younger then me. :-)
