RYKA Iron Girl this Sunday in Columbia, MD!!! I'll be riding my 1987 Cannondale road bike w/shifters on the down tube (friction at that!) and a new cassette to get me up those Howard County hills! This is my first Sprint (have done a few mini-tris) and I am really excited! 45-50 age group w/the pink swim cap, orange and pink tri top and black tri shorts. Hope to see some BTers.

Lake Chaparral Triathlon in Calgary, 4th and final sprint of my first season. Kinda lame that they chopped 4 K off the bike though, and .5 off the run, just to make it fit the community. (loop is 8K which fits the OLY well - 5 laps). I'd rather do 3 laps and have it a bit longer, but ah well. Also last race with my borrowed wetsuit and cervelo.

I am doing the inaugural Urban-Epic triathlon in Portland, ME. It is a oly, with the swim from an island to shore in Casco Bay (current water temp of 61.4 F), a bike through downtown Portland and then along the coastline, and then an out and back for the run.

I'm looking forward to it because it is hot as heck in Orlando right now and Maine seems a lot cooler. It's also my first ocean swim and my first time in a wetsuit. It's also my first tri away from home. Florida has several triathlons every weekend. I throw the bike in the back and I may have to leave in the middle of the night, but I get there and home in the same day. This is the first time I'm packing up my stuff, shipping my bike, and trying to pack for a vacation and a tri at the same time.

This is my first oly and most of my family is coming out watch. I'm hoping some of them will see how much fun it is and try it themselves.

i'm doing my first tri of the season - a sprint - hansen dam tri. i'm so not prepared. oh well. i did a HIM when i wasn't completely prepared, so this one with a 500 yd lake swim, 11 mi bike and 3 mi run feels like it will be cake. next month i have a slightly longer sprint to do, the malibu tri, which is a .5 mi ocean swim, 18 mi bike and 4 mi run. totally doable. i just have to up my consistency in training. ACK.

MikeTheBear - 2007-08-13 2:18 PM I am, I am! The Rattlesnake Sprint Tri. It's only my second tri ever but I've dealt with injuries this year. I feel good about this one. I think I have a good shot at not coming in dead friggin' last in the men's division.
That's my other concern - DFL. Assuming I don't crash my bike, I can't imagine I would otherwise DNF. And DNS is probably not going to happen either unless I fall seriously ill this week. BUT...I could be dead last. One of my friends doing the race, who is in my age group (and female) was going to be using her hybrid, so I figured that she'd probably finish after me, but now she's borrowing a roadbike. Dang...not sure how good she is, since this will be her first race also, and she's worried about the swim.

Don't even think about DFL. If you do, so what? This may sound as a cliche, but it's 100% true - your first tri is a learning experience. Get one under your belt, then worry about placing.

I want to do that race next year - it's the same day as the Luray Sprint, and I didn't check the MD page on trifind.com until after I'd signed up for Luray. But a friend of mine who's also doing my race is the cousin of one of the women I used to nanny for who's a good friend and also does tris, so I think we're all going to do Iron Girl next year

I've got the Aquaman Three Rivers Olympic Triathlon in Three Rivers, Michigan. It's my last and A race of the season. The bike ride is supposed to be quite hilly, which is hard to train for here in the flatlands, but the TT's I've been riding recently will probably help.

I'm racing "Take On The Heat" up here on the northern side of Dallas (The Colony).  It's a charity tri, with some of the proceed helping out the local firefighters.

IronBabe sprint (I know, bad name) in Houston, TX. First tri because #1 two weeks ago got canceled since the sponsoring company went out of business and took the ca$h and ran. Already got 3 flats in the past 3 days so I'm hoping fourth one is the charm!

Timberman. My first 1/2 IM. Yikes.

My son is doing the kid's race on Saturday, and I'm a little more nervous for him than I am for myself.

Me!  Surprise addition to the schedule.  Doing the OLY at Pleasant Prairie, WI.  Hoping to do the swim course right this time - avoid fixed objects and concussions - and do the race in honor of supporting Deanna Babcock.  Hope to get some great pics of the bunch of us with signs to let her know how many people are out there pulling for her.

Not this weekend, but I plan on taking my new Tri/TT bike out for a few runs at one of the courses the lbs uses for TT's during the week this week.

I am racing on the 19th, Sun. Doing the Mini distance...same as an OLY but the swim is only 1/2mi., of the Great Buckeye Challenge at Caesar Creek State Park in Waynesville OH. I hope some of the BT'ers are doing this one. They have a distance for everyone. Sprint, Mini and a Half. Hoping that the weather is not 100 degrees

I'll be there as well. Great Buckeye Challenge in Waynesville on Sunday.. this will be my first "olympic" if you can consider it that because the swim is only 1000m- not to concerned with the swim.. but, I'm looking forward to the challenge of a 28 mile bike followed by the 10K. Trying to see what i can put my body through this year and push into the offseason with some HIM's in mind for next year!

This is my A race and I'm looking to blow my previous years' times out of the water!

Edit: Also the Kids' Triathlon on Sunday.

Oh my goodness, I'm SOOOO distracted at work right now! I want it to be Saturday, so I can be on my way to the race! I get really antsy before any sort of outdoor adventuring thing - like the trip I took over Mem. Day weekend, or the 2-day bike trip in June (which we may be repeating in October - this time, I might be able to keep up a bit better with the faster people).
