....but holy crap! I am!!! That's insane. Sunday the 19th will be my first tri - just a sprint, so nothing too special. And I really hope that it doesn't take me 3 hours...I don't have a sweet tri-bike, plus the hills on the bike part might slow me down a lot. I'm also sad that the run from the swim to the transition area is rather far, and up a flight of wooden stairs (can anyone say "slippery when wet"?!?!). Might kill my transition time - I have to practice transitions this week, but I'm not using a wetsuit, I have speed laces on my running shoes, not wearing cycling gloves and wearing a trisuit, so no extra clothes to put on, etc. And I'm good at quick changes (years of theatre). Only thing I don't have is tri-shoes for cycling since I really just couldn't afford them after only recently having bought regular clipless pedals/shoes.

Don't sweat the times - it's your first, so just enjoy the experience and have fun!

I'm doing the Timberman Half - trying to go Sub-5 hours for the first time
(and yes, I see the irony in telling you not to worry about times and then giving a time goal for my race ).

... and no regrets related to the fact that you had regular pasta instead of whole-wheat 2 days before the race.

I am racing on the 19th, Sun. Doing the Mini distance...same as an OLY but the swim is only 1/2mi., of the Great Buckeye Challenge at Caesar Creek State Park in Waynesville OH. I hope some of the BT'ers are doing this one. They have a distance for everyone. Sprint, Mini and a Half. Hoping that the weather is not 100 degrees

I am, I am! The Rattlesnake Sprint Tri. It's only my second tri ever but I've dealt with injuries this year. I feel good about this one. I think I have a good shot at not coming in dead friggin' last in the men's division.

I also have a race this Sunday. Danskin (sprint) in Seattle, Wa. My left big toe is about killing me just now so we'll see what sort of finish time I have.

That's my other concern - DFL. Assuming I don't crash my bike, I can't imagine I would otherwise DNF. And DNS is probably not going to happen either unless I fall seriously ill this week. BUT...I could be dead last. One of my friends doing the race, who is in my age group (and female) was going to be using her hybrid, so I figured that she'd probably finish after me, but now she's borrowing a roadbike. Dang...not sure how good she is, since this will be her first race also, and she's worried about the swim.

My very first 1/2 Iron, Timberman 70.3 in Gilford, NH!

Going to see some BTers - cool!

Weather going to be sunny and 71 - cool (literally!), compared the recent 90 degree temps.

Get to be in the same race as Desiree Ficker - cool!

Cool! I went to the clinic on Saturday - for those of you who are awesome, it should be a fun little race - I guess the bike is really scenic and the hills are "fun" :-P The lake is nice and warm and no critters that I saw. The run is easy - and I'm saying that and I'm not a runner!!! I just hope the weather is nice. It was beautiful this past weekend - sunny but not humid.

ME! Georgia Vets Triathlon in south Georgia Aug. 18. This will be the third year in a row I've done it - and it was my first tri in 2005. I can't wait!!! I'm just hoping it won't go much above 100 degrees on Saturday.

Time for this Bike racer's first Tri- The Westpoint Sprint....

No such thing as just finishing for me. I'm going out to pound out the best time I can while staying FOP!

But I'll be sure and let you know how it all went to hell when I stepped into the water and realized this ain't no pool! HA!

Doing the 14th Annual Beaver Lake Sprint Tri. My boyfriend keeps asking me if I'm doing the Bush tri this weekend. Honestly, it's hard to keep a straight face and tell people the name of the race.
The distances are a little weird so I'm not sure what to expect for my times. Swim 1/4 mile, bike 13.8 miles, run 4.3 miles.
Good luck this weekend, everyone!

They're going to have to re-name the Pleasant Prairie Oly after this weekend after I treat it not-so-pleasantly.

I'm going to kick it in the face in the swim, run over it on the bike, and stomp it on the run... whatever I have to do to beat my Oly PR from last year. I'm going to leave it bloodied, battered and begging for mercy. In fact, they're going to call it Miserable Prairie when I'm done with it.

Hey, be sure and say "Hi!" if you see me. I'll be the guy cursing at no one in particular.
