Elite Veteran 628 Atlanta, GA | Subject: RE: sick office Make sure you wash your hands lots of times throughout the day. I've got a co-worker like that. The other day, she was leaning over my desk and burped in my ear. She didn't even say "excuse me." Worst part... it smelled. I wanted to gag. I couldn't say anything because she's one of my bosses. She's the kind of person who smacks her gum and talks with food in her mouth. AHHH! The problem in our office today is that they discovered more mold. One office has already been completely closed off because it's the harmful mold. Now it's in one of our supply/copier/printer rooms. It smells. I wouldn't be surprised if it makes us all sick. |

Expert 1836 Lafayette, CO | Subject: RE: sick office Keep in mind that these are the same people who think that the work won't get done if they're not there. They also tend to waste a lot of company time talking with other co-workers and/or hold far too much stress that they then feel it's OK to complain loudly (read: b*tch & moan). Let's add this: it is NOT acceptable to bring a sick child to work for Take your child to work Day, nor because they can't stay home alone and you can't find a sitter. Is it against the law to carry a portable steamer and sterilize someone's germs? |

Veteran 316 Norfolk, VA | Subject: RE: sick office When I'm sick.... I get called in by 7:30am usually. My boss thinks being 'sick' is for wimps and doesn't understand why if my throat hurts and I feel nauseous, I should go home. Sorry!!! I wish I could say that made me feel better! Has anyone read "The devil wears Prada"? Well, if you ever want to know what kind of life I live....read it! =) Ok...that's a little better. |

Elite 3972 Reno | Subject: RE: sick office When I was a student and worked in hospitality I learned why everyone gets sick over the holidays.... I worked in a private dining club that was really busy during the holidays and we would put in long long hours (60-80 hours a week). Every one get run down and THAT ONE GUY brings in a cold and wammo - we are all sick. What is worse is that we have to work (it was the best cash all year by far and bing sick during that time was not acceptable as the restaurant would go under) but then we passed it all on to the public...... who takes it into his work.... and so on, and so on..... the lesson - do not eat out during the holidays and/or quit your job..... |

molto veloce mama 9311 | Subject: RE: sick office my old boss complained that i was took a couple of sick days due to morning sickness during my first pregnancy. then when i came back in, she complained to my face when i had to throw up in the garbage can next to my desk (bathroom was all the way on the other end of the building, and i had already run back and forth numerous times). i'm not saying barfing in the garbage wasn't gross, it WAS, but i would have been much happier to be barfing in my own bathroom. the advice to wash hands is very wise. it really helps. |

Veteran 230 Phoenix, AZ | Subject: RE: sick office In addition to washing my hands frequently, I have hand santizer and clorox disinfecting wipes. When someone comes into my office sniffling, snotting and sneezing, I pull out my hand sanitizer and my wipes and start to wipe down the chair, the desk, the door handle....I hope they get the message. Since there's a shortage of flu vaccines this year, I think I'll bring in a can of lysol spray. I wish people would stay home. |

Member 13 | Subject: RE: sick office dont forget the emergenceee!! love that stuff. when i was sailing with greenpeace, i learned a great little tea recipe-- just the thing for a tough flu or sinusitis: hot water diced ginger root (yes, you have to take the time to peel and dice it) half a lemon and lots o' honey. -its like heaven when you get too icky to eat or drink anything. another good preventer for me is, right when i start to feel that tickel in my throat, right when i start to feel it coming on, i just pound lots and lots of raw garlic. your roomates will hate you b/c you killed all the garlic, your coworkers and lover(s) will avoid you for a week (sometimes a good thing) and your dog will sniff your hands long past the return of your normal smell, BUT, it always works. |

Prove it. Not that there is anything wrong with what you are saying, but I bet that if you ate gummibears instead of garlic and told yourself that it would help - you would have the same effect because you THINK that its working. The mind is an amazing thing...... |

Elite Veteran 831 Northern Va/Metro D.C. | Subject: RE: sick office it does work. i use garlic all the time when i feel a sickness coming on, as well as zinc, both have proven capabilities of stimulating the immune system. Peter Reid used garlic during his taper week last year when he felt a cold coming on.. http://www.peterreid.com/journal_kona_6_03.htm Read this as well.. http://www.immunesupport.com/news/92fal992txt.htm that's not to say that the mind can't be utlized as a curing aid as well...however, when used in CONJUNCTION with other aids, the sky's the limit.. |
