Subject: Forerunner 305 Quick Release Tri Bike Mounting
I just purchased a new Trek Equinox 9 Tri Bike and bought a Forerunner 305 quick release kit.
I just can't find a spot on the base bar to place the quick release bracket.
Where and how do people mount their 305's on the bike?

Thanks

Profile design makes a cheap universal computer kit that I use. Puts my 305 right between my areo bars. AWESOME place, I can see it easy in aero or while on the hoods or drops. If your aerobars are too narrow, it goes on the outside of the aerobar

I actually have mine mounted on my right aerobar. Since my arms rest on the pads just outside of the bar base and extend toward the center it leaves the perfect spot to see the computer in the aero position as well as when I am up in the bars. I had to buy a kit called the "Garmen Edge Mounting Bracket Kit". One caution though !!!! I also had an aero bottle mounted in between my aero bars and that is the side of the Garmen that the quick release is on. I was riding California 70.3 and hit a bump hard enough that the aero bar released the garmen and it went flying. Luckily is didnt hurt it but........ My solution was to ditch the aero bottle and ride with 3 water bottles and race at events with plenty of support.

Thank you all for your help.
I have been using the watch strap across the aero-bars. This isn't to bad because I can see it pretty good, it's side ways but still readable. I am not sure how stable it is, so I think I will try one of the alternatives posted. I am looking at the profile design solution, but I am not sure how it works?

Thanks

Use the profile universal mount XL

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/shop/shop/item.asp?itemid=4038&ca...

It works perfect you can move it around if you do not like where you put it the first time...I have the profile carbon 1.5x bars I mounted mine on the part of the aerobars that is by the stem area of the bars....sits kinda of under the arm rests...I can see it perfectly and I can reach it well to switch it if I need to.

I'm going to take pics of mine.  I use the non xl and it works well.  The XL might be more flexible.

Does anyone put the mount and the Garmin on the outside aero bars and still use a water bottle between the aero bars?

My buddies does just that.  The down side is, he can't see his computer (it's not a garmin, but same idea) when he's in aero since his arm is in the way.

Thanks for the advice in this thread, here's what my set up looks like now. Only issue I've noticed so far is that the power button on the 305 is hard to get to. I originally had it out past the areo bottle, but it was just a bit in the way of my right hand when it was on the aero bar. I might try a few more places and see if something works better.
