just got this email today... grrrrr

Dear Triathlon One O One - The Woodlands Participant,

Over the last several months, the Triathlon One O One staff has been working diligently to secure the final course layouts as well as the required permits in order to execute this event on November 11th, 2007 in The Woodlands, Texas. At this point it is becoming very clear after working closely with the various entities in the local area that it is going to be next to impossible to put on this event in The Woodlands venue.

For the last ten days, Triathlon One O One has been working feverishly to secure an alternative venue in the Houston area. Once this is complete, we will notify all the participants, partners and sponsors of the venue change and what the new course layouts will be moving forward for this 2007 event.
Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter,

Sincerely,

Triathlon One O One Staff

These guys SUCK!  A 6 loop bike course in the Florida race.  The Nova Scotia race cancelled.  And now this.  Makes me wish I hadn't signed up for it.

Maybe doing a 1st year race isn't that good of an idea. I like to think that doing it the 2nd year they have it works better because the first year they can work out the bugs and fix issues that they may have come race day. Just my opinion here.

But it really does suck!!!!!!

Procastination saves the day! Again.

I've been wavering on this for weeks. I even got a $10 discount card for the 101 in my last race packet, but "something" still held me back.

I have a choice between the Ironstar HIM Oct 28 with a rock-solid RD and track record; or the Tri 101.

Now, I'm leaning towards Ironstar for sure.

I just got my cancellation email. I fowarded the email along with a complaint letter to the Woodlands Newspaper and the parks and rec department. I don't know if it will do any good, but if we get enough complaints maybe it will get some notice in the community. Here are the addresses:

I certainly understand the frustration with a race being canceled. But look at the bright side - at least they are refunding money. I've heard of many races that canceled (not just CapTex on race day - that's different) and there were no refunds. I say CapTex was different because it was due to a weather condition that couldn't be controlled. At that point, there had been a lot of money spent, so refunds would be difficult at best. I'm comparing 101 with other races that went belly up before hand, and still no refunds. That shows class on their part especially since their finances may have been one of the contributing factors to the deal folding. Not that it diminishes the disappointment, but at least they are showing some class.
