Subject: Bikes routes - north of Charlotte
Does anyone know of any bike routes north of Charlotte that would be good for newbies? I am still scared of going out on the road, so would like to know of any bike routes that have less traffic, etc. I know I don't have the endurance yet to keep up with the long rides, so really looking for a place that would be safe to be out on my own, etc. I was thinking of plotting out maybe some rides that are anywhere from 10-20 miles, to start building. My neighborhood just doesn't cut it. Thanks!

There's some decent riding out off Hwy 49 near the Arena, near our house in other words.  There is a decent 7-mile loop leaving our house that is pretty deserted.  Roads are decent with a few hills.

THIS IS A LITTLE LATE, BUT IM ABOUT IN THE SAME BOAT AS YOU ARE (NEWBIE). LKN AREA. IF YOU ARE THIS FAR NORTH, LET ME KNOW. IVE FOUND A FEW GOOD SPOTS THAT ARE DECENT.

Very nice. I am in Concord and am still very nervous on the road. A couple of people have given me some ideas, any information you could give would be great. Ideally, I would like to have maybe 3-5 different routes to choose from at any given time. Thanks again.
