thought I'd start a new Sox/Yankees thread before we 'break' the other one.

Whew....what a nail-biter right to the end!  Foulke had a few blown saves at the end of the season and it was looking like he was about to have his last one of the year.  Good Grief!

Nice how the umpires get calls right these days instead of refusing to admit they may have made a mistake.  That was the difference in this game.  That and Schilling being lights out!

Bring on Game 7!!!

woo hoo!

I think Schilling did great, all things considered.  Allowing no walks and only 4 hits in 7 innings.  The shots of him in the dugout made me cringe.

I wish the games didn't start so late.  My two boys, ages 7 and 10, have been watching some of the weekend games, but it's "lights out" by 9.... oh well.

awesome game....I too thought foulke was gonna blow it.

Ya know...watching the class act of schilling, his professionalism, his no walks, his no hitting batters, his working thru the injury, his working hard right through and not screwing it up like "we" are used to,.....it really does show the difference between a pedro and a super pitcher.

Get well  rested for game 7 everyone!!!

These late nights are killing me. I think I hit the snooze 3 times this morning. But it is well worth staying up and watching the game.

It's official. I'm a Yankee-hater. Their players play dirty and their crowd is full of jerks. I couldn't stop laughing when they had to bring in the riot police.

Go Red Sox!!!

I agree -- these late nights are KILLER, and really tough for the kids.

I am a rare duck -- I'm a Red Sox fan, but I completely respect the Yankees.

I thought that the crowd behavior last night was very disturbing. It is OK to boo and hiss and be angry, but to throw things and put players in danger -- that is over the line for me! I can't imagine that happening at Fenway, but I may be fooling myself.

I agree that Schilling has class, and the umpires did a good job. (But then again, I'm a Sox fan).

does everyone realize just what Schilling went thru to pitch that game??  I had no idea until listening to WEEI this morning.  Apparently, Schill wasn't happy with the brace/splits or hightop shoe that they tried out. Dr. Morgan actually used sutures to stabilize the tendon against the skin so it would not move back in forth.  And it was sutured to the place it keeps moving to, not to where it's supposed to be.  So basically he sewed it together from the outside in.  It was bleeding off and on during the game, which I never heard them mention during the TV broadcast.  Then after the game they removed the sutures, and will sew him up again if need be for the World Series.  All I have to say is  OUCH!

If anyone else ever does this kind of thing again, I bet it will be called "Curt Schilling" surgery, just like the shoulder procedure named after Tommy John.

I confess, I am so tired that I took today off to sleep and do my run training. That's what vacation days are for, I guess.

I am a Yankees fan (but the Mariners are my #1 team), but last night I became a Red Sox believer. They are the best of baseball--come back from 0-3, I want them to win it ALL. It would be an all time great baseball story. Go Sox (no one tell my dad...we have been raised Yankees from day one, it would break his heart).

Have you realized that the Yankees haven't won since Olerud (one of my fav former Mariners) hasn't been on field?

My apologies up front to all you longsuffering Sox fans, but I'll be rooting for the Yankees tonight.  If nothing else, this will be a very exciting game to watch since both bullpens are rather worn out.

Actually they showed a clip of Offerman running out of the baselines, getting called out & the fenway fans doing the same thing - booing & throwing stuff on the field, so its not just a NY thing. Not that I'm condoning it, just the opposite.

Anyways, that was a gutsy performance by Schilling, thankfully we won't have to see him again tonight -

here's my prediction-

Lowe gets in a bit of trouble & they bring pedro into a tied game & he pitches well into the 8th, then gets into some trouble. Jimy Williams frantically calls from the golf course and they lift him for timlin & timlin gets shelled by A-Rod, but wait, its not really A-Rod! He pulls off a mask & its been Aaron Boone all along! (There hasn't been ONE sighting of Boone since spring training & A-Rod hit .280 this year - coincidence?). Then Don Zimmer jumps out of the stands & takes on pedro for round 2 as Bucky Dent holds him down.

It could happen...

Very funny!

So I guess that I just have to be sad all around about fan behavior. Bummer....

i went to the yankee website to see what time the game is tonight... this brought a tear to my eye (tear of happiness) for a team i just started cheering for a couple of years ago...

those "L"s are for LOSSES!!!

but those of us here in Red Sox Nation know the fat lady has not sung yet.  If they don't win tonight then none of those 3 losses matter, it's just another season in a history filled with many where they could not seal the deal.

BTW, cruise to the RED SOX website or nesn.com to check game time, not the Yankee site!  LOL

Boston fans are just as guilty as the Yankees fans. As I recall a lot of balls got thrown on the field during game 3 in Boston. I am starting to think these games are fixed. If by some chance the bosox do pull it out tonight I will have to go against my allegiance to the American league because I just can't root for a bunch of scruffy looking, dirty helmet want to be's.

Looks like it might be another 19 to 8 game, only this time it's Boston with the hot hitters.

Exciting game...

no......... you're really doing homework

I just finished it.  Of course I am too bleary-eyed to read it and make sure it's what I wanted, but I'm expecting the professor and all of my classmates to be in the same shape as me for class, which is only 7 hours away.

ok, I think it's time to bag it and get a few hours of sleep.

oh, my 1st class is with the dept chair, big Yankees fan.  it's been a fun week, but tomorrow will be the best.  Of course I could be all alone there as all of the kids have probably headed into the city.

Nitey nite!
