Anybody here doing the Great Floridian race in Clermont this weekend? I'm not racing, I'm a fan for this one! I'll take some pics and post em up here after the race!

Would love to go out but I'm headed to TN to watch the Vols beat up on Alabama (I hope). Let's hope for some cool weather for the race or it could be a long day in the heat and wind.

I am driving up to watch the Great Floridian this weekend.  I want to do an IM distance race next year, so I thought I would go see what it is like.

Do you have any "spectator" suggestions to get the most out of the experience??

Thanks!

The best way to really get into it is to volunteer.  I did GFT a few years ago and brought a friend.  She had the best time volunteering, getting to know some of the athletes and other volunteers, etc.  She was really a part of it all, so was able to share in the excitement.

Great Idea!  If it is in two days, am I too late to volunteer?  Do you volunteer in "shifts" since it is such a long race?

Thanks!

I'm not sure. My whole 'tri' world is focused on IM AZ 4/9/05 so it depends on if it fits into my training. Looks like it would be fun though.

Believe me, races NEVER have enough volunteers, especially an IM distance.  They'll be happy to have you for as long or short as you can help.  This is their volunteers link.  http://www.sommersports.com/volunteers/  This can give you lots more info.  Have a ball.

P.S.  My husband did the GFT 1/2 last year and because I was volunteering at the finish line when he came across, I had an awesome angle to get a great finish line picture of him!
