Pre-race routine:

woke up at 5:15 at an english muffin with honey and water, got ready and drove to the park at 6:30
Event warmup:

100 yard swim, little jogging not much very humid I didn't want to loose a lot of fluids
Swim
  • 10m 12s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swam the first 150 yards great, turned and got into a bad breathing pattern, feet were sinking, really struggled, I never could get back in rythem.
What would you do differently?:

I might have went out too hard, not sure try to stay relaxed
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Long transitition, It seems to be a 1/4 mile run to the bike, once in transititon things went smoothly and quickly
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 49m 1s
  • 16.6 miles
  • 20.32 mile/hr
Comments:

Went out hard on the bike, I was averaging around 23 mph at the 6 mile mark, felt fitgue in the legs from all the running I have done lately, and into the first few hills could tell I wasn't going to be able to pull the bigger gears, stayed strong and was rolling between 21-23 mph for most of the ride, except for some hills where I dropped to 16-18., I only had a couple people pass me, that's one thing nice starting in a later wave, always passing and not getting passed.
What would you do differently?:

Rest a little more before the race, the Ironman training is really wearing me down.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

not sure, I guessing about 56 seconds, which was added to the run time. they took your time at the dismount and added as the run. I had a good transition it was fast and smooth
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 31m 59s
  • 4 miles
  • 07m  min/mile
Comments:

Ran good, started slow and ran negative splits. first mile could not have been marked right had me at 6:48 there was no way I was running that fast. caught up with 2 guys in my age group at mile 3 stayed with them until about the 3.5 mark picked it up and passed both to finish strong.
What would you do differently?:

maybe go a little harder I think I could have pushed it more I felt strong at the end and could have keep that pass longer. Speed is down because of the long and slow distance training I have been doing.
Post race
Warm down:

jog a little, talked with friends and ate some cookies

What limited your ability to perform faster:

legs were very tired from the last week of training lots of biking and running and I have be sluggish all week. Did good considering they way I have been preforming in training.

Event comments:

Very good race, I like the course, good volunteers, just a fun event to do
