I am planning on doing Burley Half and there will be a new on at Redfish Lake next year (north of Sun Valley).  It's just too bad since this is a true Ironman race...

They keep adding them which means the available slots to Clearwater will be reduced to others and make it that much harder for people to get in unless there is a deep roll-down.  Since Florida is much more accessible than HI to most people in the US I still think there will be a lot of people attempting to go to the 70.3 events to qualify for Clearwater.

That's cool that there is an event offered in that part of the country as there are not that many high profile events there (other than CDA that I know of).

My sentiments exactly. At T-man, the Clearwater slots in my AG didn't even roll down. There were 5 slots and the top 5 took them. I, personally, wouldn't take a slot from a roll down (which means I'll probably never be there), but it just shows the increasing popularity of Clearwater. (There were roll downs, and some quite extensive, in some of the other AGs, though.)

It sounds like I now have two good reasons to visit Idaho .

At the risk of sounding ignorant, why don't you race on Sunday's?  I assume it's a religious related reason, but which one?  It doesn't bother me that you don't, but I'm curious.

oooh, I didn't know about the burley vikingman.  I just knew about the burley spudman at the end of July.  One in Stanley would be cool too.  I still need to do an olympic distance (next season!), but its nice to know there are local races to shoot for.  It makes it easier on my family if I don't have to travel very far to race.

Another mormon here.   We have religious reasons for not working out/racing on Sunday. Its part of keeping the sabbath day holy for us.  We spend our sundays at church and with our families.  Actually, having a "forced" rest day is a good thing!   Especially with for the type A personalities like myself! lol!

Do you guys find that there are enough events that are not on Sunday to still be able to compete several times a season?
It seems as though most events are on Sundays.

I don't race on Sundays either, but I live in Utah.  In this area enough people won't race on sunday, that nearly all major events are on Saturday.    There was a big awesome race started this year that was scheduled on a Sunday.   Only 125 people registered.   A similar event a few weeks later on a Saturday drew 1000+.

I do think I might struggle to find good races if I lived in another area.

Its almost the same thing here in Idaho.  Almost all races are held on Saturday with a few exceptions.  Its a good thing because there aren't very many races around here to begin with!

I'm going to go out on a real limb here and guess that you aren't Mormon...

Uh... no, not me.

Sister in law "is". Blah, blah, blah...

to keep this from going to COJ I will just say good for those that are that commited to their religion, I think it is great.
