Subject: looking for quiet bike trainer
I'm looking for a quiet bike trainer that won't break the bank hopefully. I currently have a magnetic blackburn trainer that works fine for me. I've been using it in the garage in the winters. I would like to use it in the new TV room in the basement but don't want to keep my kids up cause the current trainer is VERY loud. Are there any quiet ones out there. I don't want to spend much more than $250 if I don't have to. Thanks.

i use the cycleops fluid2.  you can definitely watch tv with it, and it's not loud enough to really disturb those around you.  in fact, i think i just saw one for sale in the BT classifieds.

I've got a Kinetic fluid trainer that I'm pretty happy with - but there'll always be SOME noise. Going away from a fan trainer would be a good move.

I'd bet your LBS would let you try one out to help you pick the quietest one possible.
