I'm in - I love this area. The hills are non-stop but the scenery is amazing. The community embraces this event bigtime. In training the bike and run - think HILLS!

Signed up the moment I got the email from Trisport North. This is the first HIM for my husband and me and the locations perfect. We have a cottage an hour south. There should be a group ride in May on most, if not all of the route. We'll be doing it.

Wow I explained all the cost involved with this race to the dear wife and she's all for it.

Now to double check room rates etc and see if theres still room at Deerhurst or Hidden Valley. Online application appeared to be working this morning, so I could be officially Muskoka bound later today

Might get to work on the Passport thing too, since eventually they'll be needed (think it's been pushed back again for land crossings) and I keep putting it off.

I was drinking beer on a dock in Muskoka when I read in the local paper that a 1/2 iron race was coming to the area. Decided then and there to sign up for it ending my two year hiatus from racing. It's a great venue and Trisport organizes great races. Now I will likely have to again suffer through the furnace that is the Peterborough Half in preparation.

Surprised to see this thread pop up again. I'm out, couldn't find a room close so the DW could walk back and forth to catch the race. Maybe another year. I'm sure it will be a great race.

Cathy...

I looked for cottages online and found a great one for a decent price. We are travelling all the way from NC so we're making it a vacation but I am sure if you look, you may be able to find a place to rent for the weekend. To be honest...renting a cottage turned out to be cheaper than staying at a hotel or the Deerhurst or Grandview. Something to definately consider...good luck!

If you wouldn't mind camping there's always Arrowhead Provincial Park:

I considered this to save on $$$. Ontario parks are normally real nice, usually with electrical hookup and decent bath/shower houses.

There are several inexpensive motels nearby in Huntsville.

I saw that one but it looks kinda far away.   Camping is an option if my husband comes with me but he hasn't commited to it yet (I only told him about the race  when I got my entry email last week).  If I'm coming alone I don't want to camp.
