Hi all...I am a newbie, both to triathlons and this site... usually I'm a runner of all distances, but was getting bored. decided to train (some) for a sprint distance last fall and had a blast. I was smiling huge during the bike (my downfall), getting passed by everyone on my mountain bike. So, time passed and now I'm back and ready for more this spring. Building some endurance this fall, start training in December for some spring racing. I'm loving it here in sunny south florida (transplant from Ohio in 2003)-I do all my training outdoors. Anyway, I will be popping in periodically looking for some sage advice. Greetings. Great site!

currently I'm romanticizing about what it's like in the fall and winter in Ohio-remembering the beautiful foilage and white fluffy snow...NOT..Southeast Ohio was dreary. The pace is different here, but it sure is the place to be if you're active...did a morning fitness camp at the park, followed by a swim outside in the aquatic center's olympic pool. quite lovely..I highly recommend it!

Hi Mimi,

I too, am from So. Fla. If you know any good bike paths or places to run/swim outdoors, let me know. I'm always looking for new scenery to workout to. It's beautiful weather down here right now huh!? I feel for all those northern people- I've only seen snow once in my life, and I didn't like being cold! I guess I'm just a Fla. girl....

Hi Lisa...good to hear from another so. floridian. It is beautiful right now. I love the hot, sweet humid weather, but my second favorite it so. florida fall and winter! I grew up in the midwest (st. louis and then ohio for school-got stuck there a bit), but have always been a florida girl! it just took me 1/2 a lifetime to get here. NOthing inherently wrong with snow, but unless you live by mountains, it's just a p.i.t.a... We are in Coral Springs-the aquatic center is a great place to swim laps. for non-members, it's $3 I think. it's convienent for me, I try to do most of my training while my 2 children are in school...hubby and I are planning on getting road bikes for Christmas-do you ride with a group? where do you ride? hear there is a great park in boca with nice paved trails and shade...just not real convienent. I'm very nervous to ride in the traffic...my biggest hesitation! people drive like #&#^% here! Ever heard of Critical Mass? I've been wanting to stage a CM ride since the first week we moved here and I mistakenly took my then 4 year old and 6 year old out for a bike ride to get ice cream. Talk about a death ride! TTFN, Mimi

Hello and welcome to the site! I'm trying not to be jealous of the outdoor training, as I sit here in MN. Best of luck to you!
