Okay, not quite France, only one day long, no peleton. But pretty scenic!

Pics I took from my long bike this past Sunday:

Taken from a moving bike with a disposable camera so not the highest quality pics ever, but capture my usual riding route pretty well.

Awesome pics, what a great idea!!! This should be a BT thing.....take pics of rides so everyone can go along (sure easier than pedalling 60 @#$% miles!)

Chris - What trail do you bike on? I always used the Prairie Path but most of it isn't paved, which was OK when I was using my mountain bike but now that I have the road bike that won't work. If you get a chance let me know. Great pics!

This is a great site for northern illinois and wisconsin rides.

Perhaps in the spring / summer '05 we should organize some group BT rides on some of these. I've done a couple of 'em, and would like to do more.

When I saw in the Lake in the Hills airport, I FINALLY knew more or less where you were. Other than that, I would have sworn that you rode right past my house! Thanks for sharing those pictures!

If you really want a Tour de Illinois, you might think about the Greater Illinois Trails and Parks ride. It's a one-week, 500-ish mile loop around some section of Illinois. I don't know the route for next year, but my husband has done it the last two years and had a great time. I'm planning to do it next year -although weirdly, he may not. Scheduling conflicts seem likely

Nice pictures.  On photo number 15, is that your tongue or were you eating an albino rat?

Chris,

Awesome pics. Doesn't look like the Chicago I know! No urban jungle but still beautiful. And how in the heck did you take pics and ride a bike?

This is about half-way between Chicago and Rockford, up to the Wisconsin border ( I didn't cross it this trip, but where I start my ride it's only about 25 miles up to the border, but it turns to gravel there, so not really suitable for a tri bike ).

As to how I took the pictures, the answer is carefully. I've been riding bikes since I was a crazy kid doing stupid things on BMX, so I've got a good sense of balance I suppose.

Okay, seriously.... the first great weekend in the spring we have to meet for a group ride. We can start at our house, ride around in the country, come back here. If I've remembered to throw some food in the crockpot, we'll eat.....

I thought that prairie grass looked familiar! It's the very same grass I pass several times a week! I am also fond of that path... I get on around Crystal Lake... Right by LITH airport... and ride NORTH... The furthest I've gotten so far is Route 120... so I know I've got plenty of room to go... Yes, we should all get together for a ride this spring... Can't wait.... Count me in!
