I was thinking small packets of Gu, to keep the kids energy up, packets of Accelerade to make sure they stay hydrated, and maybe some cut up Power Bars, just because kids need something to munch on in between Gu packets.

In reality, it's a bunch on mini candy bars, like about 5 bags worth (we get about 200 kids that come to our door, yes we live in a big neighborhood).

What was your favorite item to get when you were a kid? Mine was the Hershey Special Dark Chocolate candy bars.

Have a great and safe Halloween everyone

Chris

NOTHING, I live in the sticks, and in 8 years, I've had NO tricker treaters.  Watch, this year I'll get some and won't have anything but clif bars to hand out.

I have almost completely robbed the bags of mixed candy of the mini-twix bars...bought the candy way to early on a trip to Target (wanted to be prepared), but for some reason, I've gone completely nuts over the twix.....may have to replenish before sunday!!!

I bought my first house last summer, and was ALL SET to have lots of little kiddos come trick-or-treating.  I bought 4 bags of candy, and I had exactly 0 show up.  None, zilch, nada, zero, nichts.  I ended up gaining about 20 pounds, although the Halloween candy was just the start of very poor eating habits throughout the winter.  THAT'S why I ended up here!

Those little goblins can get their own darn candy this year.  *I* will be watching football and having chicken-spinach fajitas.

I always liked to get carrots, beets and cauliflower. Yeah RIGHT! Maybe in a past life. I liked the less mainstream candy; ZOTS were great, bottlecaps, and of course any kind of full sized candy bar (we were greedy).

This year we finally live in a real neighborhood with kids and will be handing out little bags of microwave popcorn.

Maybe we will have some left over......

Our downtown is supposed to have a trick or treat for the kiddos. I picked up peanutbutter chewy candies, m&ms, almond joy, and kit kats...

Nothing...I'm cheap!

Actually, we bought some candy bars a few years ago and nobody came.  The few children there are in my neighbourhood go out with their parents and they only go to a few select houses.  Sadly the kids don't come here because we are the "old couple" in the neighbourhood and of course I am "that weird old guy" who bikes to work and jogs so there must be something wrong with me.

such a shame!!! I remember running wild through the neighborhood as fast as I could to collect as much candy as I could..of course, we were warned not to eat anything until we got home and could check for razor blades, so we never, ever ate anything before our parents checked the bag ;-) We have lots of children, so my bags are mixed with chocolate treats - basic twix (oh yeah, ate those), recees, and m&m's and then some sugary stuff, like nerds, sprees and feet tarts (what my daughter used to call them when she said all s words starting with f...

Oh my.... many, MANY things. I have smarties and twizzlers and mini-Hershey candy bars for the regular trick or treaters. For the kids I know (and whose parents know ME) I have home-made goodies. They know I won't poison their children, after all. My own? Possibly. Theirs? Definitely not.

For me (and DH, if he's fast enough), we have toasted pumpkin seeds from the 5 pumpkins we carved. Our kids are grown up and gone, too, but we figure that's no need for maturity to come to THIS house.

Things I learned this Halloween. Kids like Skittles grownups like chocolate. After the 5th little kid went running down the walk screamiing 'I got skittles' happier than you could imagine I decided next year I am only buying skittles as the kids love them and I hate them and therefore will not eat them like the butterfingers, milk duds etc that I chowed on. I think nerds (equally yucky) are a big hit with the kids too.
