Hey there!
New to Chicago and triathlons. I'm athletic (played varsity soccer for my university) but without a goal (which was inevitably pre-season) I won't stay fit at the level to which I have grown accustomed. So triathlon it is! I hope to learn a lot from this site, motivate whenever I can, and be inspired by all your many successes.
Likes: competition, living in the city, pushing myself beyond what I think I can do, Chile (the country!)
Dislikes: those women at Lifetime Fitness who keep on all their jewelry and make-up for their workouts, metrosexual males

Haha, yeah the women on Lifetime, and some women at Bally's too. They come in with like halter tops on and their hair down. I don't get it!? If you're not sweating, you're not working hard enough!! Anyways, welcome to triathlon and to the site. It should come with a disclaimer: this site will cause you to invariably spend countless hours reading/replying to others posts.

Train safe!

Kim,

Welcome to our group and good luck on your training!!

I just started playing soccer a year ago after last playing in college in 1980. Next challenge was to do triathlons. Did my first in September with the support and great advice of many here. I'm a BOP (back of the pack) racer but challenge myself and look forward to improving.

Can't wait to read your race reports next year!

Good Luck training!

Welcome, It is funny that you make fun of the woman at Lifetime. I work out at one of the clubs and I think your right on with your thinking. I hate the fact that they will sit at a machine for a 1/2 hour chit chatting. I just want to scream MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HI Kim,

Welcome to the site and to Chicago! I love the city, there are many things to do there- as i'm sure you're finding out. [I live in the NW Suburbs of Chi]. It's very funny that you do mention that about those women there... at the XSPort where I was going, some of the gals would walk into the pool with make up, hair done, and jewelry--> I still don't get that.

Since you've played soccer, you should have no problems with endurance of tri's. I am almost in opposite shoes as you- except that I am learning how to play soccer for the first time in my life. I'm a sight for sore eyes.

Anyways, I do agree that this site is very addicting with reading/replying to the forums. Once again, welcome and enjoy!

Steve and I forgot who mentioned the "dislike" for the made up women,

you'll have to admit this as a funny/strangest siting:

A lady running out of the step/weight lifting class with... *drum roll* HIGH HEELS.

I was flabbergasted and started to give her the benefit of the doubt... MAYBE she just forgot her gymshoes and being so dedicated to her training regimen, she went with whatever she had that day.

BUT YOU STILL HAVE TO ADMIT... that was a WEIRD siting.
