I know in the past people have posted excel questions here and got answers... so I'm trying...

I have about 70 excel files (CSV) that I would like to put into a single document. They all have the same information (for diffrent days) and all the cell ares the same.

Anyone know how to do this...for free?

Print them all out and staple them together.

Are you trying to get them all into a single Spreadsheet or are you trying to create a workbook with a spreadsheet for each day. (Note that Excel will open a CSV Natively)

You could try the "import data" and give it the starting cell location.

Otherwise, open the file, Ctrl "A" (select all) then copy-paste each day's data.

No I would like to have just one spreadsheet. I need to do some sorting of the data and then my intent is to move it all into access. But that's a long way away.

  1. Open your master
  2. open 10 or so more excel files at a time
  3. use ctrl and select files to be copied (individually select each worksheet in each file)
  4. right click and select Move or Copy
  5. click the "Create a Copy Box"
  6. select "To Book" (should be the name of your master file)
  7. go to "Before Sheet" (just belowTo Book) and select End
  8. Repeat until you've copies all files into one master.

If you know anyone who has access to a UNIX or LINUX box, you could have them cat all the files together into a single CSV file, then import that.

The key is finding a tool which will allow you to concatenate your 70 CSV files into one.

I think I found a command which would help...

do you know how to open the command prompt in windows?

1) Put all the CSV files in a single directory.

2) Start... Run... then type "cmd"

3) Change to that directory.

4) At the prompt, enter this...

for %f in (*.csv) do type "%f" >> allFiles.csv

Hit enter... the result should be one large CSV file (allFiles.csv) with the content from all 70 of them. You could then import that CSV into Excel.
