Someone asked about keeping score.  Yes, you do it yourself.  Anyone that wants to use the spreadsheet I made, have fun and good luck.

I made a new version that counts the 2.0 swim multiplier.  It is attached.  I just cut and paste the pertinent info on a weekly basis for the challenge leader to record.

I am in. Wind is sporadic, but snow is almost guaranteed.  I also do Ice diving for the Police SCUBA team.  There is some pics in my albums. That ice cream headache deserves some extra points!!!!

I'm intrigued... but confess:  I absolutely do not understand the scoring at all.

30-35 .5 point light winds (5-10 mph) 1 point
25-29 1 points 11-19 mph- 2 points
15-24 3 points 20+- 4 points
1-14 5 points
0 and below 8 points

Is that:  no points for anything over 35 degrees, no matter what the wind and precipitation?

.5 points per mile run, 1 point per mile biked, in light winds at 33 degrees?  Or is that vice-versa?  What if there are moderate winds?  Heavy winds?  Then the precipitation points get added on top of that?

It may not get cold enough here in November for this to work for me, I don't know, first season.  Everyone was freaking out that it was still in the 70's through a few days ago.  Today topped out at 58 degrees, our coldest yet!  But if you could explain the point system to me in words I would appreciate it.  Thanks!

I'll play as much as the temps and weather will permit.  Considering the general weather in Ohio, it could be good or nasty.  And since I am planning a Marathon in early April it will likely help get me out on some less than stellar days.

Okay here is a great example -

four of us went riding this morning in 32 degree weather with 2 mph winds for 70 mins

SO

The formula and multipliers are as follows:

Temperature Wind factor

30-35 .5 point light winds (5-10 mph) 1 point
25-29 1 points 11-19 mph- 2 points
15-24 3 points 20+- 4 points
1-14 5 points
0 and below 8 points

Precip

drizzle/light snow 1 point
heavy rain/snow 3 points

Bike multiplier

1 point to multiplier to any bike minutes sub 50 degrees

Suck-o-meter scoring
Time in minutes x (Temp mult+Wind mult+precip mult+ Bike mult)= Suckitude score

70x (.5 Temp of 32+ 0 wind + 0precip + 1 bike sub 50) = 105 pts

So we have 105 Craptasties

Looking forward to kicking this off this week, but I think the swim multiplier should be based on air temp and water temp! or have more value assesed to it incl which month you swim

WHY?

cause who really is going to swim more than 30 mins right now! (besides maybe me)

(and I need all the points I can to topple the Yams from his thrown

By God I think I've got it!

So whenever I go for a bike ride when it's less than 50 degrees I get some points???  YAYYYY!!!!  This completely jibes with my plan to get my rear end back in the saddle after my 1/2 marathon on November 18.  I'm pretty sure Philadelphia will get at least down to the 40's around then.  Oooh, maybe I'll need to schedule my bike rides early in the morning to be sure!  Hey, this is my kind of motivation!

I am so in.  See this space for suckitude, starting the week of November 19.

They could get points for running through ash, if it weren't so unhealthy.    Prayers to San Diego!

A couple questions for TriDDS.

1. What time are you thinking. Would post work (5ish) swim be possible so that we could see.

2. Where are you thinking since we theoretically closed Minnedonka already.

Let me know your thoughts and I MAY be in.
