Subject: Howdy; and what are your goals for the 2008 season?
Hello to you all in Big Sky Country! 2007 was my first year for triathlon. I was cajoled into doing the swim leg at the Griz in April. Here is a breakdown of my thoughts during the swim:

Laps 1 - 5 : "Ya know, I really don't think I can do this."
Laps 6 - 10: "What in the world am I doing here? I think I'm going to drown. No really, I'll probably drown."
Laps 11 - 15: "I'm probably going to have to quit now. Uuuugh, when I get out of this pool I'm going to throw up."
Laps 16 - 18 "Hey, I miscounted, I'm actually at lap 20. I'm done! I did it!"

It is funny how during a swim I tell myself I'll never do this again, but about 10 minutes after the race I can't wait to get going again.

After that I did two solos. I did a Y-tri here in Dillon in August, and the Bitterroot Classic in Hamilton. The one here was short, not very challenging, but lots of fun. The BC was a blast, and beautiful!

My winter goals are:
To build a better aerobic base so that I can run the entire 5K.
To flip all of my turns. (I set this goal in August, and achieved it the first part of October. This morning I swam 1 1/2 miles and flipped all my turns!)

My 2008 events/goals are:
To do the Griz as a team; finish the swim in under 17
To take 8 minutes off my Dillon Y-tri time
To take 10 minutes off my time at the BC
To find a tri to run during vacation in Washington state

What about you?

My 2008 goals are a work in progress but here are a few:

1. Learn how to eat on the bike
2. Finish a HIM in one piece
3. Olympic tri under 2:45
4. Get my nutrition on track

Hi,

I am going to do the Peak triathlon in Great Falls, since it was my very first one Ever, I am going to take some time off my last tri time.  After that I need ot decide if I want to do the ows ones here near Kalispell or do the Bitteroot classic.

Last year I didn't do any races  So this year I need to start all over again, lose weight, attempt open water swimming so I can do tri's closer to home.  Burrr Foy's lake in April???

I was thinking about doing the Harvest one in GF in August. Last year was the first year, and they had a great bike jersey! Maybe I'll see you at BC.

Hi Mel, congratulations on setting your goals. What I love about triathlon is that you can't train 'tomorrow'. You have to train today. Every today. (Except your rest days, of course.
