Veteran 108 Key West, Florida | Subject: Recovery Drinks after work outs Another noob question!! I have been working out once a day in the past, but now I am running in the am and cycling in the pm. My question is, I have been using Endurox R4 after running in the mornings, can I use it again in the evening after cycling? It says to use after working out so I am assuming it is ok to use after each workout? I just wanted to be sure so I thought I would ask. Thanks. Corey |

Pro 4228 Broomfield, Colorado | Subject: RE: Recovery Drinks after work outs It's a "recovery" drink. Replaces protein and carbs. It's made by the same people who make Accelerade. Accelerade is meant for during workouts, Endurox for after workouts. |

Elite 3498 Chicago | Subject: RE: Recovery Drinks after work outs yep. absolutely drink it after EACH and every workout. Drinking a 4:1 ratio coupled with a high dose of an antioxdent source (esp. after long workouts) preferrably within 15 min after the workout has ended allows you to reap the most benefits from your workouts by filling back up the tank (the tank being your muscles). good job on the R4. That is probabaly one of the best recovery drinks on the market today! I know sub 10hr IM athletes that swear by it. |

Pro 3870 Virginia Beach, VA | Subject: RE: Recovery Drinks after work outs Anyone know where to get R4 or similar recovery drinks in bulk for cheap? At $2 per serving and 7-10 servings per week it can be a little tough on the budget...considering I already spend probably $75-100/month on supps. Edited by TH3_FRB 2004-11-07 11:17 PM |

Extreme Veteran 311 Tinton Falls, NJ | Subject: RE: Recovery Drinks after work outs Joel, I'm not sure where you're shopping, as PBN carries the R4 at about $1.14 /serving and is currently having a special on the Tangy Orange Flavor which works out to about $.89 /serving. Another option many budget conscious athletes have done is to create their own recovery drink by combining Cytosport Complete Whey, PBN's Ultimate Antioxidant and 16oz of their favorite juice. This combination gives you a very similar nutritional profile to the R4, at about $.60 /serving. Remember, proper recovery nutrition is much more than creating a formula with a 4:1 ratio of CHO:PRO, so don't fall into the trap of thinking 'XYZ has a 4:1 ratio, it must be good for recovery.' A Huffy and a Litespeed are both bikes, but I doubt anyone would say they do the same thing :o) In addition to other ingredients found in the Cytosport protein, the correct antioxidant profile is critical to creating the same affect. Resident Curmudgeon 25290 The Road Back | Subject: RE: Recovery Drinks after work outs Performance Bicycles, 56 servings for $35, equals $0.625 per serving. You get another 10% off if you join Team Perormance. http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=14830&subcategory_ID=2412 Also keep your eyes open, periodically they'll offer a 20%-off online coupon for even greater savings ($0.45 per serving). Then you can stockpile the stuff. Edited by the bear 2004-11-08 6:11 AM |

Extreme Veteran 311 Tinton Falls, NJ | Subject: RE: Recovery Drinks after work outs Bear, Your referring to Accelerade and not R4 which are different products (which inherently PBN still has for less). Performance has the Accelerade 'on sale' at $34.95, while PBN has it at an everyday price which is 15% less ($29.95). I just want to add that I rarely get into these discussions when it comes to pricing as often PBN cannot compete with the 'giants'. Instead we continue to offer triathletes benefits which others cannot compete with. I know of many BT's who use PBN as a resource and the experience, Q&A, etc... we routinely extend to our customers is something that others simply cannot offer. Pro 3870 Virginia Beach, VA | Subject: RE: Recovery Drinks after work outs I actually haven't ever shopped for recovery drinks specifically so I guess my perspective on pricing is limited. The special on the oragne R4 looks like about the best out there..I see that the price is even better on 6+ cans...but buying 6 cans at once is going to cut into my sushi budget If that special lasts another 2 weeks I'll probably put in an order for 6 cans when next pay day rolls around. Elite 2468 Racine, WI | Subject: RE: Recovery Drinks after work outs Brian, is the Cytosport Complete Whey comparable in your opinion to Designer Whey? I ask b/c that's what we use at our house, that's what hubby likes and it's cheap and easily available here in town. I'd like to try your recovery mix recipe though. Thanks |

Extreme Veteran 311 Tinton Falls, NJ | Subject: RE: Recovery Drinks after work outs Cindy, Sorry for the delay, just saw your post. A few bullets of comparison between Designer Protein and Cytosport Whey Protein (CWP): 1. While both products have 18 grams of protein per serving, CWP has a 97% protein utilization rating, more than any WHEY on the market. 2. CWP has ½ the cholesterol of Designer 15mg vs. 30mg. 3. CWP has ½ the sodium than Designer Whey….40mg vs. 80mg. 4. CWP has more Potassium, 130 mg vs 100 mg. Additional Cytosport Whey Protein Facts: • Protein Efficiency Ratio (PER)- 3.6 Almost 2 X soy based products • Biological Value - 104 Very High • PDCAAS (Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score) - 1.0 Matches Highest Fed. Govt. Standard • Net Protein Utilization -94% • Protein Digestibility- 95% • Partially Pre-Digested Whey Peptides (Not Simply Whey Protein Concentrate- WPC) High in Natural Glutamine • Delicious, Satisfying, and Instantly Soluble in Cold Water Essential Amino Acids - The Key to Muscle Recovery If you want to build and repair muscle tissue and ensure optimum health, you must consume the requisite amount of essential amino acids every day. Athletes suffer from frequent muscle catabolism due to inadequate total protein intake and/or inadequate intake of all eight essential amino acids. Especially important are the branched-chain amino acids (BCAA's): leucine, isoleucine and valine, which stimulate lean muscle growth and repair. Over 50% of the total essential amino acids in CWP are BCAA’s. Why Supplement a Healthy Diet? No whole food is as concentrated or as perfectly formulated for muscle growth and repair as scientifically formulated performance supplements. Why is Cytosport Whey Protein the Best? CWP contains high levels of all nine essential amino acids, making it a "complete" protein source. Unlike any single whole food, CWP provides high levels of all 18 normally recognized amino acids, a complete profile for optimum metabolism and recovery from exercise. This combined with your favorite juice an (1) Antioxidant Cap is going to get you just about the best possible recovery formula you could buy.
