Comments: I felt great during the first half. I hit the turn-around at 56 minutes! I was extatic!!!! I'm not sure what happened after that. My pace just kept slowing down. I'm capable of doing much better. What would you do differently?: Do more 10+ mile training runs. Post race
Warm down: Well, I was pretty pissed about my time. I was sure that I did exactly the same time as Avenue of the Giants 1/2 Marathon in May. I managed to beat that time by a whopping 9 seconds! (Feel the sarcasm!) At least I'm consistent. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of doing more 10+ mile training runs. I guess hiking is NOT a good substitute for actual running. A body must run to be prepared for running! What a concept! Event comments: The Humboldt Redwoods race is a fun one. The half marathon is really, really flat! It is the perfect race for a first-timer or for someone that is looking for a PR. The T-Shirts are fantastic, too!!!! Last updated: 2007-08-18 12:00 AM

Take the usual shower to wake up. Eat the usual oatmeal with honey. Ate a banana on the hour drive south. Stressed about my current job and stressed about the fact that I havn't been running.......at all!
Jogged a little before the start to loosen up my muscles. I decided to let the beginning of the run be my official warm-up.
