(After posting this under the main Triathlon Talk Forum, I thought it would be good to post here as well for all the "Going Long" folks

IM Florida kicks off tomorrow morning in Panama City Beach.  Online Registration for the '05 race begins at 10am Sunday morning, so don't delay.

Also, I found that the Athletes Information guide offered a lot of great info for anyone interested in triathlons.  You can get it by going to http://www.ironmanflorida.com/ and, under "Latest News", you'll see a link to the "2004 Athlete Information Guide" (an adobe document).

Now, I'm very curious about something.  I heard that at IMWisconsin, you were allowed to register for the '05 race immediately after completing your race and that the entire field filled up within hours.  If that happens with IM Florida, then the race will fill up before online registration opens at 10am the next morning.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  Does this race typically fill up that quickly?

Not sure about Wisconsin, but the Lake Placid entries opened a couple days after this year's event, and they filled the field within 30 hours.  It seems like they waited those couple days to give people who competed this year an equal chance to get home, log onto the web and register again for next year.  I'm wondering if Wisconsin uses the same format?  I would like to enter the Florida IM, it sure would be a nice vacation from the cold New England weather!  Parhaps in 2006...

IM Moo on-line registration opened up the day after the event (Monday) at 10:00am. It filled up in 13 hours.

Comparatively, IM Canada no longer opens up for on-line registration because on-site registration fills it up.

I'd do it next year Karl, but it's going to be too much of an expense for me after doing Lake Placid in July.  Hoping for 2006 maybe.  I'd like to try a different IM each year, using my vacation resources to travel to a new part of the country.  I've also wanted to do IM Wisconsin, IM Arizona, and IM Couer d'Alain in Idaho.

Uh oh.  I just signed up.  I put down my $442, my medical history, and my tshirt size.  Now, I'm just nervous!  I'm getting a huge rush just from knowing I've committed myself to this bohemouth of a task.  YIKES!

Woo hoo...yeah baby!  Welcome to the club!!  After dropping a similar amount on the LP event, I have found it really does keep you motivated, keeps you training.  Right now I'd normally be slacking off a bit, doing some fall hiking, getting ready for the winter snowshoeing season.  But with the IM on the horizon, it's enough to keep the training routine going.  Not pushing it mind you, just in a nice comfortable "maintenance mode" and ready to ramp it up next Spring.

Just wanted to do a roll call for IM Florida.  Just a little curious as it sold out in 9 hours!

I couldn't hold back - this being my last real chance to get in on an IM in 2005 - I went ahead and signed up!
Even with a year to train, this will still be a stretch.
Look forward to staying in touch, staying motivated, and staying focused with the rest of you.
Now, if I could just shake this damn cold and get back to training :-(

Congratulations, Brett.  I'm dealing with some severe "what the fu*k" have I done, but there's no turning back, now.  Its all CAVU9's fault for talking me into this insanity.  Actually, I signed up with a coach yesterday, so I did seek professional help on this one!  See you around the boards.

Damn....it is early in the day to be called out like that!  But you know....it is true!  I had to have a few partners in crime.  I just should have been smart enough to get some people that are going to be slower than me to sign up!  Just remember to wave as you are exiting town the next day as I will probably still be out on the course!

Count me in.

This will be my first, and I'm already nervous! I think I'm going to buy the "Be Iron Fit" book and go by that. I can't afford $400 or $500 hundred a month on a coach. I've heard the book has a really specific plan, so hopefully that will work for me!
