I just signed up for the Bear Creek 10miler in Cumberland County (http://www.rrrc.org/). Anyone else doing it? I'm hoping for a 1:30finish. BOP, maybe last, but I'll finish dammit!

Who's in? It's Dec 2 at 9am at Bear Creek State Park in Cumberland County - just west of Richmond.

I'm considering it. Have you done it? What are the trails like? The website has some sort of weird format file for info that I cannot open (what is .mht format?)

Hey babs,
No, I've never done it - this will be the first time. I'm thinking about heading out that direction some time over the next couple of weeks to scope out the terrain and route. I haven't seen an .mht format before, but I think Adobe opened it.

It was a great race and alot of fun. Glad it was dry this fall or all those streams we had to cross would have been tough to get through. As it was, it was a tough route through the woods - it was all single-track and we were hurdling fallen trees, and running next to ridges and gorges. VERY cool race and I will DEFINITELY do it next year.

It was a great race. Check my RR. The elevation rise awas about 2300' (I'm trying to verify this with other people who had GPS') and while it was difficult, has totally gotten me jazzed about trail running with hills. It never got boring, and I never really zoned out and lost focus because I was trying SO HARD to make sure I didn't trip on a stump, log, rock, root or hole in the ground. I am now considering doing a 1/2 Mary up in the Finger Lakes of NY where they have a 1/2 and Full mary option through the mountains there. The graph makes the Boston Marathon look like a walk in the park... It's in Aug or Sept and it's called the Monster Marathon. I'm not a runner by any means, but MAN does that sound like fun. Running up mountainsides? AWESOME!!
