Subject: CGI Racing - 4 Races - New Sponsor

CGI Racing is a new sponsor for 2008.  They offer 4 races in 3 states.  If you are or maybe considering doing one of these races, there are plenty of race reports to read through via the links below.  The race directors, Michele and Larry, are active on the forums.  I'm sure they can help answer any questions that come up.

The Redrow's put on the best races imaginable. They are wonderful people as well and are very supportive. Everyone, particularly in the northeast, should consider doing their races. You can count on the day being perfect.

I have to second that about the Redrows. My family volunteered last year at the NJ race with our Cub Scout Pack and they were wonderful to work with as volunteers. The athletes were fantastic too. I was one of the volunteers at the bike start/finish and was amazed as all the competitors passed me by and those who were motivated by a few simple words of encouragement from me. Some things still stand out in my memory about that day...one rider thanking me for letting him know he could get off his bike now, guess he had a long ride...another when an olympic distance competitor came back in to transition and could not figure out why he did not ride far enough. We figured it out when he said he turned one way when he should have turned the other at the start of the ride. I felt horrible for him and wished there was a way to rewind time so he could start his bike ride again.

My husband and boys were up along the olympic distance run and I met up with them after all the bikers were in. Again, I was touched by the appreciation the competitors showed when my boys gave them high fives and cheered them on.

I was so inspired and motivated by the experience that this year, my husband and I are going to compete in the Sprint and I have already signed up! I am so excited and hope to meet other BT'ers there.

This organization puts on great races if you want to do a quality race, you need to do a CGI race.

If the RD Larry tells you all his races "aren't that hilly"; he is full of $hit

LOL...I just spit my drink on my brand new keyboard!

In the interest of full disclosure NJ State isn't flat...there's like 40' of elevation...there...are you happy John...maybe you should run up and down the stairs a few times to train for the hills

We got many e-mails who were equally impressed at the enthusiasm shown by the Cub Scouts. Those high fives can go a long way toward motivating a weary athlete. You guys are great.

It's funny because I'm editing video for a course preview and I have footage of the "hilly" section of the course. We're renaming one of the "hills" Mt. Latvenas!!! A t-shirt given to all who can scale it...a la the Westernport Wall of Savageman.

Larry,
I missed the ride last month, and was wondering whether the full bike course is always open and accessable.

Thanks

Sounds great.  For the record, however, Maryland is not the Northeast.  : )

The town that hosts the race is North East, Maryland.

Although it's not actually in the northeast it is only minutes from NJ and Pa.

...though for the record, that was my fault, I had it listed as 'Northeast' in the original post....

Just wanted to put my two cent's in.  I did the Philly Women's sprint tri as a relay this year and had a great time.  Michelle did an awesome job of psyching everyone up for the race - her energy got everyone pumped up!!

The race was well-organized.  The swim was nice, actually - the Schuylkill is not as bad as it sounds, and I'd do it again.  The bike part was cool, because we got to see ROCKY (well, the statue, but still, it was cool)!! It was a HOT day so it was a really good call to have the finish line in the shade!

I am most likely going to do this one again if my race plan for next year allows for it.  I highly recommend it.
