Just received my new Cycleops trainer and am looking for some good training tips/workouts I can do this winter. I am planning on logging a lot of miles but I also wanted to do some speed work as well! Any thoughts???

There are several workouts. I have a couple of spinerval dvds that are excellent and I highly recommend. The main tip I can give you is just time spend as much time as you can. You can increase the resistance you can do spin ups you can do one legged drills. The trainer just gives you a chance do really focs on continuous pedaling because unlike outside you dont stop pedaling. Enjoy..PS I really just like finding a good movie and roll till its over.

Sunday and/or Monday Night Football.  Z1 for entire half.  Z3/Z4 pick-ups for every commercial.  You get 90+ minutes in the saddle and some nice,  high intensity intervals while ignoring the commercials.  Plus, I can do this after putting the little ones to bed and my wife gets to watch her shows on the nice TV.

Did you received the Carmichael TT dvd with your Cycle Ops?  I did and used it all last winter; it is great!!!  My indoor training consisted of 3 workouts per week:

  • Tue:  TT, 1 hour
  • Thur: Speed ups, sprints and intervals, 1 hour
  • Sat:  Spin in low gear, 2 hours

I am looking into getting a few Spinervals (Comp 26.0 and 24.0 HILLatious) for this winter but have yet to find any in my area.  I will have to order them online.

have you ever tried netflix on the computer?  I was wondering what that service was like (get to watch instantly) compared to waiting and wondering what will come in the mail next...

I just did this tonight!  I watched an episode of the office and rode away.  The quality is not bad.  I have DSL and I have no problems.  The only problem is the limited selection.  I think it is getting better, but you are not going to get the big new releases.
