With the winds coming from the north/north east, the waves coming in are about 6 inches high...if you can even call them waves.

The newspaper has the water temps at 78 degrees.  I'm going to hit the water in a couple hours to see if they are lying or not.

No worries about it being too dark.  Maybe its because we are just barely in central time here, but when I looked out at 6:45,there was lots of light.  For the swim, you'll be swimming out with the sun on your left hand side and when you're swimming back towards shore, it will be on your right.

lucky duck, you're there already!  great news on the swim....was worried the sun would be in my face on the return - need to remember my geography of where PCB is!  78, huh?  I don't care either way...the wetsuit gave me a hickey

Water is very, very still. I just came back from a swim and I did not have a wetsuit. It was plenty warm and the water, except for a rolling swell every 10-15 seconds, did not have ANY motion.

Dude - call me when you get in. I'll most likely have family arriving and won't be able to do a whole lot of crap, but I want to see you before the race and see how smoking fast you are. I'll PM my cell to you and jen.

I'm sure they'll find a nice deep spot to measure the temps.

Crappy quality, but check this out!!!

The water is great. As for temp, hopefully they measure close to shore, because it's noticeably cooler there then out where the sea floor drops off. As Bostic posted, very small "waves" this morning. Yesterday it was like glass, and I believe they're calling for today to be the windiest day of the week.

A pod of dolphins were playing near me on my swim this morning. Very cool.

It's time to head out for a ride.

I swam this morning at 7 and then went to the Community Fund breakfast.  Basically no waves athough there was a West to East current of some sort ...... kept pushing me away from the host hotel location.  Still windy though.

It was much worse coming back today after you went out past the last buoy. Plus, when you rounded the last buoy before turning left, the sun made it IMPOSSIBLE to see where the next buoy was!!!

I did the first loop of the swim in 40 minutes. I think I can go faster, but the chop coming back was pretty strong.

Huh ..... it looked pretty flat this morning ..... but I didn't swim. :shrugs:

But the winds are supposed to be dying down by tomorrow morning with 5 - 10 mph winds and not the 10 - 20 there have been today and yesterday.

I went down to the beach after the pancake breakfast thing and didn't see the BT tent set up, so just walked to the area where the swimmers come out and up the transition path.

It is a frickin' LONG run to get to the bike transiton!

You're right, it was/is pretty flat out there today (Friday). I think the previous post is from yesterday. I swam from my condo at 7:00 and there's very little current. This may turn out to be one of the calmest swims I've ever done. Well other then the 2500 other people who will beating the crap out of me.

I walked down to the gatorade swim at 8:00, but didn't see any signs of a BT gathering either.

Anyway, bike and gear are checked in and I'm just sitting on the condo balcony taking it easy.

Best of luck to everyone racing tomorrow!

Just checked mine in as well.  Now it's time to relax fully .... well until dinner.

And I still need to touch up shave.
