I've always wanted to convert a bicycle trainer to electric generator, so I figured I'd do it now. I pretty much just need the stand and the main roller. Any other parts are a bonus.

If anyone has a busted unit available, I'd like to take it off your hands. I'll pay shipping.

A little OT, but I saw a thread out on ST which someone was trying to convert a trainer to a generator. I think that's what you are trying to do.

Jeff, can that part be fixed? Shoot, I could probably just run a threaded rod through there as a more permanent installation. Do you have a picture or model number to look up? I'd like to take a quick look at how I would run the alternator/stator set up.

What do you want for shipping, or are you close enough for pick up? I live in mid-Michigan.

Similar idea. I want to use it to charge a battery pack, then charge my phone, computer, whatever off an AC inverter or just run straight DC appliances off of it. At least that's phase one.

Phase two is for a contest through Google for pedal powered inventions. I have the rest of the idea, but need to get a quick and dirty power source going.
