What are the benifits of using a steam room post workout? I use it for 10 minutes or so after every workout, and I know it feels good. What I really want to know is is there any real benifit? If so what? Is it dangerous? Is it ok to streach in the steam room? (assuming its not full of naked people!)
Thanks!

There are some "benefits" to the steam room at the local Bally's I went to . . . one of the reasons I switch clubs.

what's even more disturbing is that they personal trainers are the guys who go in and "break it up."

you couldn't pay me enough to do that!

Time in the steam room after my workouts is the most relaxing time of the day for me. Not sure its gonna be the same after reading this. I'm pleased to say that in the terms of this thread there are absolutley no benefits in the steam room at my gym!

OOKKKKKKK, Looks like I wont be checking it out anytime soon.

I saw the thread and was thinking that maybe I should check out the steam room at my club (Bally's) Uh, maybe not.

LOL... I have never witnessed what steve is talking about... And hope I never do. But I have to say I think it is the most relaxing part of my day too. I really enjoy it. Does it have any real benifit? or is it purly psycological?

to get back on track...... IMHO I personally think that a steam room is just going to dehydrate you and will probably be more detrimental in the long run.

and YUCK!

I enjoy a post workout steam myself even if the benefit is only psychological. btw I've never seen or heard of any of "that" in the steamroom at Bally's in NYC. Now the jacuzzi, that's a different story!
