Hello all!

I'm new to triathlons, although I'm not new to cycling, swimming or running. I just completed my first sprint and did well. I want to be competitive, at least within my age group (37) and feel that I could win a few based on my first effort and training potential.

For that reason I will probably be pestering you all for information at first.

My goals are to do sprints at least for the upcoming year, then move to Olympic distance for a couple years. Eventually I want to do as many Ironman's as my old body will let me. Although I currently feel a competitive streak coming on, I can't tell you how much I enjoy training in this sport and would be happy just to finish my races.

I'm also a very silly person.

What's with "handsomepete" if you name is Dave? Shouldn't it be "handsomedave"? Is it from a movie or something?

Anyway, welcome! You are entering a crazy world here at BT. Good job on completing your first sprint! More to come, I'm sure. Like you, I've done a couple sprints and I'm planning on doing an Olympic this summer with the ultimate plan of at least one IM.

Eat up as much info as you can from this site. There are people who are beginners all the way to those who did the Hawaii Ironman this year. Lots of knowledge to be found here.

He he. I always have fun with this one. Whomever can tell me where Handsomepete is from gets a new p3k. offer void on earth and neighboring planets.

TP, you are correct. Kang and Kodos (also from the Simpsons) will drop off your p3 from a "certain ringed planet which shall remain nameless". I'm a freak for the Simpsons. If my signature had been turned on in the beginning, it would have been another clue.
