Picked up the remains of half a cow at the butcher last night.  Between all the cuts of meat (ribs, steaks, roasts) and the hamburger it filled two and a half large storage totes.  Have no clue what the counts was for each cut of steak but there were 71 – 1 pound packages of hamburger.  The inlaws and brother in law each for 5, mom took 30 and we got 30.

Oh how the digestive tract is going to get a workout this winter.  We may have to declare every Saturday or Sunday to be a MEAT dinner.

I haven't heard back from my brother and sister-in-law since we were supposed to get a quarter cow cut (I love alliteration).  If that doesn't pan out, NEIGHBOR, what you want to do for the next Packer game?  I'll bring some tasty beers!

Wait, you didn't get the jerky or sticks??

Eventhough I am from the land of read meat.....this made me gag a little.  Have not eaten red meat in 11 years.  And to think I almost married a hog farmer!

That looks awesome... The only question. What type of cow do you order?

My brother's FIL raises cows (not dairy, I know enough that they are not raised for meat, but I don't remember the type) and I have debated ordering a quarter with my brother but I didn't know what type renders the best meat.

Hah! Only four posts before you made an anti-meat person gag. I had the under at 6.

You guys going to be drinking meat smoothies this winter? Better recovery drink than chocolate milk (which comes from live cows, I understand. Probably the brown ones.)

My brother in law’s parents have about 10 cows they raise for the meat and to sell.  Each time they get new calves they separate two for themselves.  The two they keep get fed better.  YUMMY!!!

Perhaps next year we’ll have a chest freezer and be able to get more cow.

Love the red meat, but I prefer elk or deer. Beef's nice too.

How much per pound???

We go to a farmer in PA who sells fully organic and totally natural stuff (we buy our raw dairy from him).  He charges like $3/pound for a half, which is okay, but my wife thinks she can find something a little cheaper closer to home.

Ahhh, memories of my childhood......

Grew up on a cattle farm, I eat meat for revenge.

How did you feed it (the cow)?

My grand father had a "secret" recipe for feeding beef

me as a child.....that's my prize-winning carcass in the background

Spokes, I'll rent the car and pick you up at the airport and we'll go hunt for Ty's meat together.

Uh ... wait. That's not exactly what I meant.
