I gave up. I was trying to catch up, but forget it. This thread moves way too fast. I have a feeling I'm gonna be in need of goal intervention since my chiro told me no more pilates. Also, any of you techie wizard people out there. If you know how to get my Mac to pull up a Google spreadsheet, let me know. Spent most of the day with my family. My daughter is already crying about how she doesn't want her cousins to leave. They're not leaving til Saturday. It's Monday. C'mon, sweetie, can the drama.

Cat - have you decided what to wear?
Dee - Glad you share my feelings on Little Debbie, LOL!
Scott - Congrats on getting to gaol for the challenge
Everyone else - Hello, happy Monday, etc. etc.

Alrighty then... here goes.  It's very long so I'll give it to you in pieces... keep you on the edge of your seat and all .

Background is... I work at two different gyms.  One is really, really nice and professionally run.  The other is... not, but I continue on there because I love the people, many of whom I've been training with for many years.

Over a year ago I was offered two lunch time classes.  Forty-five minutes of cycling fun.  I told the coordinator I could do it but that she would need to be sure there was childcare available during the classes (at the time there wasn't, it stopped at noon).  She wanted me to do it bad  enough that she moved mountains and got two hours of childcare per week added to accommodate my little guy (the older two are in school).  Eventually I dropped one of these classes and now teach only the Monday "nooner".  When I started teaching there were only three people there on my first day.  Now the average attendance is 30.  Definitely a following amongst this crew.

Hi Sal!

how was the soup?

Depends...Mila's idea of soup is different from mine...

Soup was good...family and my daughter's friend gobbled it up, so I suppose it wasn't too bad...Cindy appreciated the fact that I actually do cook sometimes...how can you go wrong when you've got sour cream, avocados and mozzarella cheese on the side?

Hey everyone! Sorry I was out of town. I went to San Dimas to check out the course and I'm glad I did. I tried to swim but security said no way buddy. So I did the bike course but instead of 12 miles like they said it is, it was 14.8 miles. I then transitioned into the run but instead of the 4 miles they advertised it was 5. So i find myself a bit perplexed on the course. Either way  it gave me a whole bunch of confidence for Sunday, I just have to make the swim.

Ok I will attempt to go back and see what I have missed.

Here, I got someone to take a picture, now you see the real me, scary I know. lol

And now for part two of the post count padding spin saga:

Fast Forward to Today:

I show up at 11:45.  Proceed to take Exhibit C to childcare.  There's a new girl.  I introduce myself and explain that I'm the instructor, yiddy, yiddy, yiddy, meow, meow.  She says, "but we close at noon".  I sweetly explain that no, on Mondays and Wednesdays childcare is open until 1.  She says I'm mistaken and refers me to the GM.  I tell the GM there's some sort of mistake because childcare was added at this time for me.  She informs me "no childcare was ever added for you.  Childcare is about the members."  Ummmm.... OK... I clarify and say it was to accommodate those people, including the instructor who needed to bring their kids to noon classes.  I refrained from calling her a beotch and was rather proud of myself.

She told me the childcare policy had been changed as of November 1st and that I should have been aware there was no childcare available.  So there I stand.  Thirty people in a room waiting for me to teach a class.  My two-year old waiting to play.  Soooo... I say "I've not heard anything about this from my coordinator and, furthermore, I taught on Nov. 5th and had childcare."  She told me that I was lying.  Ummmm... OK, not so much since I logged into the computer (which my supervisor later checked and confirmed).

Trying to be the bigger person here (and understand, she is not my boss and actually has no business confronting me on anything), I say "look, obviously there's been a miscommunication.  I can't teach today unless someone can watch my son.  Is there anyway someone from the front desk can cover?"  NO.  Now this is the point at which I start getting pretty angry.  She is mad at me.  Fine.  But to disappoint thirty PAYING MEMBERS???

But wait... there's MORE...

Part Three...

I go to the front desk, call my boss and say "there's no childcare".  My boss knows nothing about it.  She asks "can't someone watch him for 45 minutes so you can teach?".  I tell her in no uncertain terms what the GM said.  Then, I went into the cycle studio to announce that there would be no class and explained why.  I also told them I could not continue to teach the class if no childcare was available and so it was unlikely that I'd be back.  Needless to say, this went over like a lead balloon.  BTW, I hate drama.  In a big way... and, as you can imagine, this was all going down in a very dramatic fashion.

So I call my boss back and say that I cancelled the class, sorry for the hassle (it's a hassle for her when a class gets cancelled) and the GM interrupts me and says, "the people are unhappy.  They want some music on in there.  Can you leave a CD?"  WTF???????? No shizzle Sherlock, of course they are unhappy.  And meanwhile, about the CD, was that a real question?  My boss is on the phone going "don't enable her... do NOT give her a CD".  OY.  As I'm walking out the door the GM says to me: "Sorry for the miscommunication.  It happens but you obviously should have known about this."

OK, that got me.  I said, "I'm sorry, too.  However, I was not informed of this and I feel that perhaps we could have worked out something more positive for today so that the members still had a good experience.  They are going to be unhappy that I can't teach this class anymore."  She says, "Get a babysitter."  I then inform her that I don't get paid enough to justify that cost (it would cost me more $$ than I make teaching to pay a babysitter).  Her response?  "That's not my problem."  So I tell her it's too bad because I have a good following with that crowd.  She says:  "You are one person on one day.  They'll get over it.  Have a great day."

I waited until I got to the parking lot to choke on the blood oozing from my tongue after biting it hard enough not to utter the words GFY out loud.

The end.
