I have made a decision to get to a stage where I can complete my first short event by my next birthday, 7 Sep. I hope this site can help me get there. I hope to see and speak with you on my adventure.

Welcome Carl!

September babies are usually very goal-driven... I'm sure if you've decided this, then you've taken the first step forward! This site is great for logging your progress and for support!

Welcome again, and lots of luck to you!

Hey, welcome to the board, you'll find tons of great info here. As far as completing a short distance event by your birthday, I have no doubt you'll be able to accomplish that, except that I'm not sure what sprint events there are in Nova Scotia around that time. The ones that I am looking at for next year are:

Navy Trident - Shearwater - Mid-may
IG - Dartmouth - Late June
Bridgetown - Early July
Shubie Park (Olympic) - Mid Sep

There is no schedule posted for next year so I am just going by this year's schedule and figuring when things should be.

I was like you in late August, started training in hopes of completing one event next year. Now, after three months of running, I am looking at tackling the four races above as well as the 10K at the Bluenose Marathon and racing the 5k at the Run for the Cure. I'm sure in no time you will be adding more than one race to your goals as well.

Carl,

Welcome and it is great to set a goal and get training. You will learn a lot from many in this forum. Are you training now? How cold is it there in the winter?

I look forward to hearing about your progress.
Kathy
